Pieces Of Me on Soundcloud
Pieces Of Me on YouTube

A song about what happens to an individual after the greedy take what they can.

Style is _OOZING.STY (Oozing Vintage Funky Soul Jazz)

RealTracks in style: 4710:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm SoulJazzBluesyFunk Ev 110
RealTracks in song: 4249:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BluesFunky Ev 120
Loop in Song: Percussion Loops\Loop124bpm Conga 8ths 2 bars low.wma
RealTracks in song: 2905:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BrightBluesyPopColin Ev 100
RealDrums in style:Jazz60sFunky: a: SnareRide b: SnareRideBusy was used in the redesign in EZDDrummer.
Dave Bell (Blue Attitude) played guitar. I played bass and sang.

Special thanks to all the King's* men for putting us back together again.
*that would be BB, Albert & Freddie.

Pieces Of Me

All they see is a number in me to raise their profit line.
Most of what they said goes over my head. I raise my head to find
all they ever want are pieces of me.

All they say in their fraudulent way is meant to take my cash.
I'm just a dollar sign, and when they take all mine,
they'll throw me in the trash.
All they ever want are pieces of me.

What do we do when we end up screwed inside their evil plan?
But how would it be if we could all see it's just the devil?
Man. Oh, man.

All they are is a runaway car careening off the track.
I'm belted in here with no way to steer.
I'm sitting in the back.
All they ever take are pieces of me.
All that's left to save are pieces of me.

I quote myself from YT: Excelenté! Great song, production and guitar-work.
But I'll add to that re the also excellent lyrics that on social media I've occasionally referred to humans/citizens as "economic units" as that's what we've become. You're either a positive, neutral or negative economic unit. Bankers' actual jargon for persons who pay their credit bills on time is "deadbeats" as no profit is being made from them.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Marty,

Wow! Another absolutely knock-out song. Love this vocal - one of your very best. Completely in the groove with great phrasing.

Dave's excellent guitar tone adds a heaviness to the subject. Perfect mix as well.

You are producing some killer music!

Bob

My fav part was the cool “inside” rhyme scheme:

Masterful! Fun to listen to, and, as always, super production. Great work!

very good groove in the backing and catching riff. Enjoyable gary moorish or santanish solo guitar. All in all a very pro pdoduction. It could have been a hit in the 1960-80s. So it's music, that meets my taste.

I loved this song for so many reasons. The lyrics, of course. Feeling that more and more myself these days. Loved the choice of style. The guitar solo was powerful (go Dave!) and that little bit of crumbs at the end. Excellent song, Marty.

Marty,

What a great blues tune that the 3 Kings would be proud of!
Love that groove you've established with that oh, so in the pocket bass playing!
Dave's guitar parts are smokin' hot all the way through!
FWIW I always pay attention when Freddie is mentioned! I used to play in a house band in the Houston, Tx area with his piano player that toured with him! Awesome stories were told!
Loved that little vocal ending part!

Thanks, TB

I love that you write about things that actually matter. Often, easing the message with humor.
Yummy Bass.
Dave doing some of his best work. Smokin.

Thanks, Chay. I'm often accused of being ridiculously positive, but I'm proud to be a negative when it comes to bankers.

Thanks, Bob The Second. It would be friendship abuse to bug Dave to do all my songs, but those he does he always makes better. He could've surely been an in-demand session player. I finally got the upgrade on SC, mostly for the unlimited uploads and the ability to replace tracks. Their other hypes are bogus.

Thanks, Tom. I think I was a limerick writer in a past life. When I say I write the lyrics, it's true. I write them but don't know where they come from.

Marty, great groove and production on this one. You guys can both really play! The write has a lot of truth in it. 55 years ago I wrote a song with a chorus that said “They hit me for a nickel, they hit me for a dime.” Not a lot has changed except the denomination. Blame it on inflation. I hope you can continue to stay positive. Although l’ve heard it said -A pessimist is an optimist with experience. Smiles never hurt. I enjoyed the song a lot.

Bluesy version of a protest song.
Great song, great singer, great guitarist, great band.
You've used a rather unusual rhyme scheme (at least for me) that works fantastically for the song.
I think that's one of your best smile[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

You two gentlemen certainly can make some fabulous music. Dave smokes the strings while you put a mean bass line perfectly in place. And your vocal ain't too shabby, either! Hard yo go wrong with a power Blues number. Nice - seriously.

I paid off all my credit cards last year. I was almost $19,000 in debt with those things. Now, I owe a grand total of $87.00 on my credit cards.

Really nice!

Alan

Haha, thanks, Dave. Yeah, I asked Kathy for some of your old pics. Always wondered why you were playing on a dump heap, but they fit the song so well. hehehe. Seriously friend, I appreciate you immensely.

Thanks, Tom. Man, you knocked me out with that 55-years-ago comment. I said, Man he must be old. Then I realized 55 years ago I had also written many songs. "They hit me for a nickel, they hit me for a dime." They hit me on the upbeat and couldn't make it rhyme. hehe Had to. It was like someone going "Shave and a haircut..." and not saying "two bits."

This song is oozing all kinds of goodness- in the style, the lyric, the RT’s and yours and Dave’s performances.

“All they are is a runaway car careening off the track.
I'm belted in here with no way to steer.” Yeah!

Dave’s solo is smoking hot. We were thinking of a Kenny Wayne vibe when listening and then saw the vid had a strat guy that kinda looked like him. smile
And the vid images nail the narrative.

Your vocals are standout and the vocal tag was cool.

Nice mix and arrangement also.
Simply a great package.

Enjoyed it!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
