Hold My Hand on Soundcloud
Hold My Hand on YouTube

A song about being there. It's a corny kumbaya song. It reminds me of something Reverend Tim-Tom would sing on the TV show The Middle.

If you make it to the last chorus, there is an ear test of sorts: the 3-part harmony with different melodies and lyrics.

Style is _SOUTHRK.STY (Southern Rock Even 16ths)

RealTracks in style: ~689:Organ, B3, Background Pop Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 1596:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Pop16ths Ev16 065
RealTracks in style: 663:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm SouthernRock Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 4520:Banjo, Fingerpicking GentleSync16ths ev16 100
RealTracks in song: 3553:Multi[Thickened=5] Horn Section, Rhythm SlowPopPads Ev16 065
RealDrums in Song:Americana16thsSyncFred^1-a:QuarterHiHat,Snare , b:QuarterRide,Snare was used in the redesign in EZDDrummer.
I played bass, added that (must be a valve) trombone with the Donner Keyboard for the solo, and sang.

Hold My Hand

Hold my hand when the day is drawing near its end,
and stand by me when you feel you need a friend.

When you're down and out and feel there's no where you can turn, turn to me, my friend, your friend
I'll be there to help you through those times,
and help you see just who you are.
When you feel you can't go on, and you need someone
to pull you through the day okay,
Okay, I'll be happy just to hold you, give you my support,
and chase your blues away.

Life will test your fortitude, your resolve to clear a path
through this maze of craze some way.
Call on me to help you draw the line,
and give you what you need to win.
If you fall and need a lift,
I'll be there to lend support and help you keep your stride aright.
I'll stay by your side to help you,
walk with you awhile to keep your goal in sight.

LO: Hold my hand when you need somone. Call me when you...
HI: Call when you need me. I will be listening.
You're not alone, and it's not the end.
So I am here for you. Just call when you...

Marty,

Great song and awesome vocal. I love the Harry Chapin-esque feel that this one has. The ending is very cool and works perfectly. Excellent tracks selections, bass and mix.

Loved it!

Cool hymn to friendship. Super vocals/harmonies. Nice band, expertly arranged. The banjo was a nice change of pace. Love the instrumental interlude and wild vocal finish! Doesn't sound corny to me, but...maybe I just like corny. Who cares?! Love your song. smile

I agree with Hans’ comment on Soundcloud - such sensitive lyrics Marty,
fabulous vocals and great production/mix - sounds very genuine and not
at all corny, quite a hymn to friendship!!

This is a cool song.

We all need a friend now and then.

Sounds good.

You know I have a weakness for harmonies.
Beautiful.
The three-part harmony takes a little getting used to (at first I thought there was another song playing in the background), but it's definitely a cool way to end the song.
You may disagree, but this song is now one of my favorites of yours.

...

So, I've been holding your hand for 3:57 minutes.
Can I let it go now?

Hi Marty,

Well, that was nice! Vocal harmony is my soft spot. And you delivered with it! Loved the horns in the musical interlude. And that vocal ending was some serious ear candy! I thinmk you have this music thing pretty much under control! Great stuff!

Best to you.

Alan

This lovely song of yours is prophetic as you have often given me a hand up with your appreciated supportive comments.
Your excellent song is way more Brawny than Corny and much needed in these nasty times we live in.
Oh, and your vids are very entertaining. Well done all around.

Marty,
As others have written, those harmonies are wonderful. The theme of friendship does not get enough airing in these days. I love the a-capella opening, then punctuated by the strum of instruments entering.

Just finished listening to Misha's track with a talkbox, and here you've got a banjo and a horn section together. I really like these deep RT explorations. You were right about the ear test: I did indeed have to train my ear to hear the last part. But it was worth it. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me checking in every evening. Great job, Marty!

An excellent write with lots of depth. Musically 'up there'.

The choice of band members is ideal, and the mix is really well done.

Now Marty... there's corny and there's sweet. This is simply sweet and a really well-composed piece of music, uplifting and fun. Love the opening (as I mentioned on sc) and the banjo is divine. The chorus is heart-expansive and the harmonies so good. I think it is my favorite of yours now. Okay? Okay.

Thanks, Bob. I just realized I'm not versed enough in Chapin songs --keep thinking of cats and cradles,, but I'm happy for the reference.

Haha. Maybe you like corny... I care. Thanks, Ron. Glad you picked out the banjo. I knew it would be odd to go with the horns, especially cuz I couldn't get it to play like Bela. But I like how it gave a lift to the second verse.

Great chorus melody, Marty.
That's the hook.
Just a suggestion but you may consider taking some of the instruments volume down or removing one of them in the verses to see if it increases the impact of the chorus.
Good one.

Vic.

Not a corny, but a lovely positive song that has a very memorable melody and heartwarming lyrics. "When you're down and out and feel there's no where you can turn, turn to me, my friend, your friend" - I certainly turn to this song and your voice, or actually any of your songs, they help me to forget the bad times. The best song on your new album and leaves such a relieved and heavenly feel after hearing it.

Excellent vocals and those harmonies are truly sweet. The trombone fits perfectly creating nice Mariachi soundscape, making me feel like I'm witnessing a big colorful parade. You are a true master of songwriting in any genre, thanks to BIAB and your captivating talent, thanks my friend for being here on this forum smile

Man, BD, I still can't get over how good your last one is. Well, enough about me. Thanks, Brain. Essentially there are 3 different songs with the same chords at the end. Never let go, my friend.

Thanks, Alan. I wanted to make a horn section as well as you recently did, but settled for a few Ctrl+F8 strokes to make that one a suitable backing track for the "trumbone" I played on the keyboard. Haha The only control I have is staying our of the way and let the creative process do all the work. Of course, BiaB and all the encouragement here are the perfect fodder for this mudder.

Thanks, Andrew. There was one part that was recorded somehow weird. There was some god-awful noise coming through the otherwise clear vox. Can't remember all the stuff I did to clean it up. On the last note it made that vocal sound like a picolo trumpet. It reminded me of a Count Basie ending.

Wonderful song lyrically and musically. It's so good to hear something so positive in spirit. Loved th horns. Great video too. I'm also feeling a lot more postive than I was earlier thanks to this song! Just really good vibes. Let's have more!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
