A few of the old timers here may remember this song, we originally uploaded it in 2020. I was never happy with the way I mixed it back then, it needed more dynamics. The new version has Marty Straub (BabuMusic) on bass.

The Band:

RealTracks in style: 1839:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopModernGrooveA-B Ev16 075
RealTracks in song: 1831:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopModernGrooveBrightA-B Ev16 075

I'm playing the acoustic guitar, one of the electric rhythm guitars, and the lead guitar.

I used EZDrummer3 for the drum track.

Mixed in Reaper with plugins from Waves and iZotope, mastered with Ozone11.

Black Crack in the Wall (2020, Christiane Spruit)

Wheels are turning
now it's all coming to ground
What we needed, we don't need it anymore

Our children playing
while the dust clouds falling down
burned their dreams in the backyard of the mall

Days of laughter
I still hear the echo down the hall
from the good old days we had before the fall

Black crack in the wall
It won't happen again they call
They scale the city walls
burning bridges and the flames are rising tall
We've seen the black crack in the wall

All the answers
they are blowing in the wind
All the songs we heard and all the songs we sing
Words are burning we all saw the writing on the wall
HISTORY repeats itself, for us all

All comment welcome!

P.S. for those wondering where Christiane has been, she has recently moved and it's taken her a while to get her studio back in operation. Hopefully you will hear some new music from the three of us soon!

Oh, turn this one UP. Way up! I'm an old-timer for sure, and I always heard this one as a special Blue Attitude original. It was a ton of fun playing on it. I remember my fingers were actually sore after this one, probably because I played it another ten or twenty times after my track was done. Man, all three of your guitar tracks are essential, but that solo soars with a certain urgency. There are no cracks in this song that weren't filled. Chris's vocal is so emotional, and, man, I love her voice. This one reminds me of early Jefferson Airplane, but Gracie never sang THIS GOOD. So glad you updated it, Dave, and I like that "Slight Return" tag. ANd so glad to see Chris's new studio is ready.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Dave, Christiane & Marty,

I remember this one. A powerhouse performance by Christiane. You and Marty hold down the arrangement with some of the finest playing I've heard. Excellent mix!

Awesome stuff!

Cracking tune, band and vocal.
Reminds me of those 1970's /1980's bands.
Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks, etc.
Great stuff.

I have this feeling that with Chris aboard, you guys up your game significantly.
grin

This song is great!
LOVE those stops.
Excellent guitars, I especially like what you're doing with the acoustic, Dave.
Very tasty bass, beautiful little melodies without stealing the show.
Production: killer, as good as it gets.
And Chris' vocals, sorry guys, but they are the best part, the icing on the cake.
As they always should be.

Ya'll cranked up the dynamic for sure. Cool modern protest song, love the anthemic vibe. Super vocals and bass. Smoldering walls of guitar sounds, which are my kryptonite. Great job!

Dave, Chris & Marty,
Very powerful tune and timely re-release. One of the strongest vocal performances by Chris. Wild guitar playing. Marty's live bass definitely makes this stand out. Great work on re imagining it and thank you for sharing.

Well, you certainly found some great dynamics!

With that supporting cast, and your talented playing, how could this not be excellent? Lots of power and full sound.

Excellent rerun! You folks always make excellent music.

Dave, it irked me that I could remember the title but not the tune (getting old), so I went back and listened to the original on ReverbNation. Wow, you really reworked it sonically. The same song but on steroids now. Really sounds good, def worth the time to redo it. If I redo one of my songs, I usually make it worse. Great job, looking forward to hearing CS on some new material.

Hi, Dave & Co.

That song's got punch. Throaty vocals, powerful guitar - sounds great!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Wow! That is fantastic!
Loved the stops to give impact to the title line, the soaring guitar solo, and also how you merged vocal and guitar on a couple of notes. For me, I wasn't paying attention to the lyrics (they were just the vehicle for the music) and I like it that way when lyrics become fully integrated into the music. I read the lyrics afterwards and they non-specific which gives them a universal purpose to that heard by the listener.
The only bit I wasn't sure about was the ending - but that might be my OCD wanting everything to fall in neatly.

Superb song and recording on all levels. 1st class vocals and of course lead guitar. Can never have enough of that.

Blue Attitude' living up to the name on all levels. Christiane nails the vocal. Marty's deep full tone and spot on playing holds down the low end and provides the glue and Dave, your standout approach to soloing turns up the heat. Great playing. Loved it all!

Dave, remember something from 2020? I can't remember what I had for breakfast today!
Regardless you, Marty, and Chris produced one hell of a song.
The vocals, the bass, the guitar leads, everything is spot on.
Great dynamics!
IMHO this is your best to date.
