I use BB 2025 and I play mostly jazz so many of my tunes are in C, Bb, Eb, Ab and sometimes in Db.

However, when I use altered chords (b5, #5) and tritonus substitutions (e.g. Db7b5 iso G7), sometimes the notes in my melody lines use # iso. B.
E.g. G7#5 in the key of Bb, the melody note is often changed to D# iso Eb (which would be easier to read in the key of Bb).
Is there somewhere in the program an option to change this?

Hope to hear from someone who knows.
Tonnie

I think I understand. First, does iso mean in search of? As in, you were expecting Ab but got the enharmonic equivalent G#?

Couple of thoughts.

Problems like this often (but not always) go away when you set the correct key signature in your BIAB song. Many people just leave it at the default key of C. I have trained myself to do that first when entering a song.

Assuming the melody note you want to change is MIDI, you can change the enharmonic name of a single note, usually, in the Editable Notation Mode. Right click and you’ll see a pull-down for the pitch. I’m not at a computer right now …. Last I checked, some choices were not supported, like Cb for B.
EDIT: it’s to the right, called Force Accidental. Change the note from Eb to D and Force Accidental to #

Also, just so I’m clear when reading your posts, are you in a country that uses B for what I call Bb, and H for B natural? Something like that. John Ford taught me that.

I interpreted "iso" as meaning "instead of ", but that's nothing more than a wild guess.

I agree with the comments on enharmonics and key signatures.

I'm also intrigued with your final paragraph, and would be interested in the O/P's response.

Matt, indeed they use B for Bb and H for B natural in Norway. However, that is not the problem here, as I use the English version of BB and hence use B for B natural and Bb for B flat. I always set the key for each BB-song to the correct key! Tonnie

Very good. Were you able to use Force Accidental to fix this, although unfortunately it’s one note at a time?

Matt, I am not looking for fixing it one note at a time, but I am looking for a setting (if it evens exists) to fix it for a whole tune.
Thanks,
Tonnie

I've had that happen to me, even when the correct key is chosen.

It doesn't seem to matter unless you are planning to print the notation.

I usually do everything in MIDI, so if I want to print, I export the MIDI, and import to a dedicated notation editor. I have an old copy of Encore and sometimes use MuseScore.

That might be easier than changing one note at a time.

Understandable. I think that’s going to be a Wishlist item.
