Using 2008.5 - is there any way to 'freeze' a re-written bass track?
I go into Notation mode and alter the bass notes to what I want... but then what?
Saving the song does not save the new bass pattern..
I would think if you have the ability to change the notes, there MUST be a way to save your work....

I don't remember when the Freeze function came out but it has gone through a few changes. How about copying the modified bass line to either the Soloist or Melody track?

The file can be saved as a midi file. That would keep your bass line intact.
When I had v2008.5, I used to build-up my arrangements by modifying my notes (usually bass) in BIAB and then saving my files to midi and importing them into Sonar Home Studio to create an arrangement. I always stored my end arrangement as an mp3 file.

Tried to save it as a midi file (hit the MIDI button?), but once I 'played' it, the new pattern was not there....??
Seems like if BIAB allowed me to change a bass line, there should be SOME way to save it...
Otherwise, why even allow it?

Hello,
Version 2008.5 doesn't have the feature to freeze tracks. Unless you press Replay (instead of Play), Band-in-a-Box will re-write the track. There are a couple of approaches you could take. One is to save as a MIDI file, import the MIDI file into a MIDI sequencer and edit/play the file there. The other idea would be to Copy the track to the Melody or Soloist track (there is a menu item for this under the Edit menu). You would then need to mute the original bass track, and your Bass part would be playing on the Soloist track.

Try saving to midi using File >> Make standard midi file.

Is there a way to 'copy/paste' a bass pattern?
I'm creating a pattern in notation and saving it to the melody track - seems to work so far..
but the pattern repeats itself over and over... and it's very tedious to create the same pattern for each & every measure...

Use the "Copy from... to.." function under edit. That should do the job.

You're missing the point. When you save your song as a midi you then have to reopen that song as a midi file NOT as a Biab file. Saving a song as a midi but then hitting play again in Biab just regenerates the Biab song. Biab files and midi files are two different things. Biab will play midi files but you're usually better off opening midi's in a program designed for them like a sequencer such as Real Band.
