As far as YouTube is concerned, I had about 600 views a day (mainly for 2 cover songs) for about 3 months, and suddenly it went down to 30 views/day and never came back.
I gave up trying to understand how it works.

Thanks for listening and responding B.D. - what the heck does the B stand for? I keep forgetting! Re YT views, I've only twice had posts take off from the get-go, so my guesses are either that a YT staffer watches/listens and it gets posted on the main page, or it could be as simple as a keyword used in tags. I used a tag I've never used before for this post, so next time I'm logged-in I'll edit some of my blurbs to add it where relevant and if those posts start getting more views I'll report back.

PS: I'm becoming a fan of Goldmania Bella, but I can't say I'm a "big fan" as I'm only 5'7"! I just loathe it when 6-footers come along, bloat their worked-out super-hero physiques and tell me, "Yeah, but I'm a BIGGER fan!" When that happens I think to myself in 'woke' fashion, "Pfft. You're a 'head that's a diminutive of Richard' - your view doesn't count." But I'd never dare say it as I lost my super powers in my 30s. But that's another story! laugh

HI Chay.

This is a really nice song .Nice selection of tracks which are perfectly mixed. I love this kind of music.

I particularly enjoyed the guitar I call that sound "soft grit". the tone is distorted but in a most pleasing way. Nicely done!

I always like what you do with your songs.

Take care.

Alan

Chay,
Neat, laid back tune. Surprisingly, fiddle works very well. Clear mix and listens well. Thank you for sharing.

First of all, good song, nice build. Good solo!

As far as understanding listens on YT, it's a mystery to me too. Some songs that I think are pretty good get hardly any, and others that I think aren't my best work get lots. Strange place!!

Enjoyed your song, lots going to to keep it interesting for such a long piece.

Your track is a pleasant listen and thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, Vic. Re YouTube it's similar to self-publishing on Amazon. In both one's works are essentially the same as needles in a haystack as there are so many millions of titles on the sites. In order to get noticed on Amazon one first needs a lot of reviews, which are important as sales figures while the YT parallel is also getting 'like's and comments. One can only promote music or books via social media, but the way algorithms work, all of which seem dysfunctional, even tagging posts doesn't have much effect as not everyone tagged will actually receive a notification of it.

Thanks, Al! "Soft grit" is a great name for that style of guitar. Thanks very much for the positive response.

Thanks for the response, Misha. Yes, discovering that fiddle style was a boon as it works unexpectedly well when placed in the right instrumentals.

Thanks, Dave. I totally agree with the best music posts often not getting many YT views, while those not so good, or are less commercially appealing, get a lot. I expected my 2 instrumentals with "Train" in the title would get more views as thought railway enthusiasts would find them via tag searches, but neither did. I suppose that not that many YouTubers actually do searches.
