There are a couple different monitor connectors that screw in like that, but if it's a blue connector then most likely it's VGA. Take a look at the instruction manual for your monitor, as there is likely a menu for "image setup" or "auto adjustment" or "calibration" or something like that, and running the auto adjustment may fix the image. This is often required on any LCD monitor that uses VGA.
