While I've previously posted "Venus Walks", Venus Walks V3: Venus Speeds Home" & "Venus Walks Again" which all have the same chord structure, unlike the latter 3 "Venus Walks V2: Venus Flows" doesn't have the initial bars in ¾ time and is 4/4 throughout. I've also not previously posted it here it as it's essentially a video soundtrack - first posted on YouTube in 2023 - but with a little new instrumentation and the original video I feel it's now worthwhile.

I named this 2nd version of "Venus Walks" "Venus Flows" - though it was originally "Venus Ripples" - as I had specific imagery in mind while arranging it, but due to weather and the tides I wasn't to be able to make my own video, then one evening listening to the finished piece, underwater imagery sprang up, so I decided I'd use free seashore and underwater video footage from Pexels. So special thanks to the videographers whose full credits are on the YT post.

BiaB cast in order of appearance:

Strings: Scandinavian 1 - World Styles 2 ~ uncredited

Guitar Solo: Bricks Indie Rock w Guitar Solo ~ Mike Durham
Drums: Country Rock Guitar Solo, Pop Ba ~ Brian Fullen
Guitar2: Country Rock Guitar Solo, Pop Ba ~ Darin Favorite
Tenor Sax Solo: Slow Country Pop w/ Tenor Solo ~ Mark Douthit

The 2 SynthPads and the Bricks guitar solo are new additions to the original

A pleasant song, but perhaps a bit long?
I understand that PG Music prefer not to mention the names of the various artists that are used to create your song.
There's more info in this post.

I agree with the prior post—very pleasant and enjoyable. I don’t have a problem with long-length works, but, in this case, the structure is repetitive and doesn’t offer any real breaks. It creates a great basis for all the soloists, but, for the listener, perhaps inserting some attention-getting diversions would help one stay with the longer scope of it.

Chay,

Great instrumental with lots of excellent texture. I especially like the guitar solos & sax. Outstanding mix and video as well.

Nicely done as usual!

Yes, it definitely has a bit of a undersea vibe - if you slow it down and add a few echo pings, you get into Pink Floyd territory smile
Nice song, quite relaxing with a cool sax solo.

Chay, this song feels like an old friend. Love the way you've evolved your concept to weather imagery and developed the theme accordingly. Very nicely arranged and mixed, and the soloists take their turns in interesting ways. Great job, as always!

There's more info in this post.

Thanks for the response AudioTrack. The issue re giving credit to the sampled session musicians goes back a long way and I've been unable to find any definitive comment on it from PG Music. In BiaB itself all of the musicians are credited, which I assume is a part of the their contracts, which is totally understandable - it's usually only some synth samples which are uncredited, while others are - and in the end I can only guess that many years ago when RealTracks were first used that there may have been a warning that if one is selling one's BiaB music and doing well then a session musician might want some dosh from it, but even that seems unlikely as such should be covered in in their contracts. IE: They're paid for their work with PG Music and have no rights to it thereafter.

I've been crediting the sampled musicians since on the BiaB forum since I've been a member as I'm pro credit where credit is due, plus I sometimes do the same where I share the link on FB as some musician contacts are interested, but I don't on YouTube, SoundCloud or other sites I share the YT link on, though that's because on 'lesser sites' I post without a blurb as the odds of the links being clicked on are very low. Another regular Showcase poster lists the musicians in his SoundCloud posts, so as PG Music have never objected to either him or myself giving the credits I doubt very much that it's an issue for them. It seems to be a case of each to his own and, as said, I'm pro giving credit where credit is due.

Thanks for the feedback, Tom. Length of track is down to personal preference and I enjoy listening to long playlists at home and I mostly prefer longer to shorter tracks, particularly instrumentals. This has been a recurring theme, which actually surprises me as no forum poster is expecting to get into any national Top 40 and become famous, radio stations liking short tracks. There are oodles and oodles of instrumentals and vocal songs which are longer or a lot longer than commercial pop songs, 8 minutes plus, included. I've been a Neil Young Fan since the 60s and a lot of my favourites of his are very long - "Like a Hurricane" and "Over and Over" just 2 of many examples - then there a very long instrumental tracks such as Love's "Revelation" which is one side of their "Da Capo" LP, then there's Blood Sweat & Tears "Blues Part 2" which only has vocals coming in at the end. Then once again there must bee hundreds of jazz instrumentals that are long or very long and then of course one has very, very long classical music pieces. It's down to taste.

Regarding this post, bear in mind that I never posted the 2023 original version as the video is primary and the soundtrack secondary, but I decided to with this remix as it has the added guitar solo - my having to remix my old posts is a long story, which you won't know about as you're new to the forum. I have 6 videos on YT in which the written wordage is primary, the visuals secondary and the BiaB sampled music tertiary, so I'm highly unlikely to ever post those on the forum - though one that's almost 11 minutes long I might post one day as it's atypical humour, which some regulars might enjoy!

Thanks, B.D.! I never thought of that re Pink Floyd. I'll try slowing it down a lot in Audacity to see what it sounds like!

Oh, yeah, Chay, before your wonderful creations I thought of Venus as the 2nd planet. Now I only think of these tunes of yours. Captivating, hypnotic, engaging, and so well done. Man, I really enjoy how you manage to build these and add just the right ingredients at the perfect time. Outstanding video, too. I totally understand why these moving sounds last over 6 minutes. Frankly, I can't imagine stopping. Your creaativity in unending. Love it!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Wow, Marty, thanks for that positively positive feedback, expressed with great positivism. Big "Yay!" to positivists! Very much appreciated, Marty.

There are a lot of pleasant textures in this well produced piece. The guitar and sax provide some diversion from the repetitive chord structure which despite its simplicity is what makes the whole work so well. I enjoyed a very relaxing listening experience.

Thanks for the response, tommyad. I agree re "the repetitive chord structure which despite its simplicity is what makes the whole work so well." While the chord structure is the foundation for all that follows and is thus super important, it's a case of not so much what you've got as what you next do with it. What I love about BiaB is that it supplies the paint for the canvas of the chords, which is why I sometimes refer to my work as musical collages. Once I've found all the instruments/colours I want to use I most enjoy the arranging/orchestrating. It's always hard work, but it's totally fulfilling.
