Well, when I heard that Floyd Jane and others had decided to start playing the guitar, I said to myself, I should probably give that a try myself, although initially I was terrified. I have never played the guitar until now, but when I opened my closet, I found an old Telecaster covered in dust and I decided to give a try.

But first, I stopped by a local bar and I ran into this kinda witchy-looking woman (cute though). I asked if I could take a picture of her with my cell phone, and she said, sure, she had been in a lot of pics, and if you double click on the sound cloud photo, you will get a better idea of her overall vibe.

Afterwards, I told her I wanted to play the guitar but I was afraid people would laugh at me. Her eyes sparkled and she gave me a weird smile, and said she could give me the "dark arts" but there would be a price. I said what the hell and she gave me a piece of paper to sign. I have no idea what I signed, but I guess it doesn't matter. Oh, by the way, she was wearing tight skinny jeans and her last words to me, as she tucked a thumb inside her waistband were this:

"Just remember, sweetie. There is a fire down below."

I hope I am not in trouble.

"Misirlou" on acid! Man, you've got that Tele CRANKIN'. Love the spiky tone and the almost-but-not-quite-off-the-rails development. That drunken organ is very cool, too. Inspired, mad and magnificent. Hats off, AGAIN....

Hi David,

I saw your song on the forum, wanted to push the play button, then saw your reaction on my 'Fools'. song.
Had to read that first, of course. Thanks for it!
Then I read the intro for your song and had to smile. I also looked at both my acoustic guitars, but pushed the play button for your song with that intriguing title.

For someone who says he hasn't played in a while, you made a remarkable noise and fuzz on your guitar. And... fast and also in tune!
You made a very good song and your playing is very good. I can't copy you (anymore). But to be honest, I would have enjoyed it more if you used your vocals too.
Not for moaning or groaning, but to let the world know why they should listen to your lyrics (and your typicall vocals, of course)!!!
Keep the fire burning, man!

Hans

David,
fun stuff.
I love the dissonant bits particularly - what is a "bend" but moving through dissonance to harmony.
My fave at that particular Dark Art is Robert Quine.
I enjoyed the rave/blast/jam.
THANKS!

Cheers

After that very amusing preamble, I pushed play and got a long guitar intro.
What happened to the vocal? Did the witch steal it? Don't trust them.

I did enjoy the long guitar intro though and thought it sounded great with the dust on.

Ah, you're going to hell for sure, David. This outstanding work of art will attract many followers for sure. Actually it's so good , you're bound to get a repreive. That contract will be nullified for sure by its pure heavenly execution. Hey, are you playing the piano? DId you sign the addendum too? That dusty tele sounds like it's being played by a helleva guitarist with burning fingers.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hey thanks DC!

I am glad you liked it!

By the way, there is an 7-foot tall man in a long black coat on my porch with a contract in his hand. He's been knocking on my door. That cute girl is with him, wearing exactly the same outfit she was wearing last time.

Any idea what's going on?

You didn't happen to sign that contract when you were at the crossroads, did you? That would explain the Tele on this tune...

LOL, your description and the other comments have me laughing out loud. While not my cup of tea, we should all be so lucky as to pick up an instrument and do that with it. Jimmy would be proud.

Well, David - did this set off your smoke alarm?

Some real nice, red-hot, raw guitar playing. Sounding excellent to my ears. Ya did good!

Man, your entire effort on the guitar is cohesively chaotic smile ... in the good way.
But your write up and the responses are equally priceless. Genuine no BS LOL.

FUN to the max!

Hi, David.

It's about time you gave up on that classical guitar stuff and played some real guitar. When was the last time you heard a classical guitarist bend notes like that?

Sounds like you might need a good lawyer. I hear there's this Daniel Webster fella who might be able to help. If not, you might consider taking up residence in New Hampshire. wink

Fun listen!

Wow that was a wild tune David. Channeling Neil Young in his Crazy Horse Days. Well done.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
