Hi, I have been trying to input a midi file into my DAW and even though I have set up the midi type to "0", still it comes in as a multiple track midi. Is this a bug or there is something new in 2025 that I don't know.
Thanks

Mike B.

Mike, was the MIDI saved from BIAB or from somewhere else?

If I understand correctly, MIDI Type 1 is the most commonly used MIDI type nowadays (each channel on a separate track).

I don't believe that there have been any special changes to MIDI formats in the 2025 release. Could you explain the steps you used to create / save the MIDI file?

I agree. If you can, work with type 1.

I mostly work with MIDI instead of the Real Tracks, because MIDI can be extensively edited.

First, I export the MIDI from BiaB, then import it into the MIDI sequencer or DAW of my choice. All in type 1.

Type 0 combines all the MIDI tracks, while Type 1 leaves them separate. I suppose Type 0 was useful back in the days when all the data needed to fit on a floppy disc, but I have no use for it.

Ok, I have used this before, that's why I am wondering. I create a file using a style that contains a midi instrument, assign a vst to it and then drag it to the midi selection at the top left of the menu. Previously, I have changed the midi settings to "0" because I want to get it into my DAW as a single track. In this case was a guitar vst, still it would come into the DAW as a multiple tracks, which I don't want because one have to assign the vst to each track, more work.
I hope this is clear enough, if not, let me know.
Thanks for the help

Mike B.

Mike, were you dragging from the Master to the MIDI drop zone or from the Guitar to the MIDI drop zone?

Hi, I did drag the midi from the master since there were more tracks in the song. Don't remember if I did it from just the guitar alone, I don't think so.

Mike B.

When you drag the master to MIDI you will get all of the tracks. If you want only the guitar track drag only the guitar track to MIDI. If you want to move more than one MIDI track you must drag each one individually to MIDI then go to DAW mode; thus you will get those MIDI tracks to drag into your DAW.

I hope this helps.

PS - Thanx AT for bringing this up.
