Alan, you and Di are in my prayers.
Be sure to take care of yourself as you take care of Di.

Our very best wishes to the both of you during such an extraordinarily difficult time. Janice mentioned today that she heard a song that reminded her of Di’s voice and that it brought her joy.

Update On Di- Not Looking Good

Di's dementia has become very aggressive, and her remaining time is getting very short. Her hospice nurse thinks it's just a matter of days, if not sooner

I'll update as things change. Thanks to all for your kind words along the way to this point.

Alan

Thanks Everyone. Di just got out of the hospital - again. The outlook is slightly better but still sad. The doctors are now saying they've managed a few contributing factors that will probably give her a few weeks rather than days. But there is little they can do to impede the progress of the dementia. Her kidneys are starting to fail and her ability to digest food is rapidly decreasing, triggering her brain to tell her she's not hungry. Thus, she eats very little, usually half a sandwich daily. Supplying nutrition by IV infusion would do more harm than good. These are all typical symptoms of end-stage dementia.

Di and I appreciate your thoughts, well wishes, and prayers. It's very comforting.

Best to all of you. I'll be over to the User's Forum as time permits.

Alan

A critical update ...

Di's dementia is full throttle, and her time is close. Hospice estimates a week to 10 days. She's non-verbal and rarely cogent. She occasionally recognizes me, our daughter, and our granddaughter, but not often.

She hasn't eaten a bite of food for over two weeks - that's symptomatic of end-stage dementia. She still drinks water through a straw several times daily.

As I've sat beside her bed (at home), I've used my laptop to construct about 30 songs, on each of which I spent no more than an hour. I've posted none yet. I don't intend to enhance them as they were spontaneous to a specific moment, and I would like to keep them that way. I may post some of them after-the-fact.

And please know, the messages you have left on this thread have touched me. Musicians and composers are an avenue by which the human soul can express itself publicly. We are the instruments of our soul. All of your souls have touched mine - and my heart.

I'll be absent from the forums for a while, but your thoughts will be with me.

Wishing everyone the very best. Diana and I treasure the folks here - all of you.

Alan & Di
