The original "Aya Rocks" was the very first instrumental I composed in BiaB, inspired by but not identical to a song I wrote in 1969. When I first posted this track it was called the V2, but I've since deleted the original as I only used one Style, while I've used 4 in this. The main difference between this remix and the one I previously posted is that I keep the piano playing throughout, whereas before I cut it during the 1st 2 solos and brought it back for 2nd 2, but I think it has more drive this way. It's also a very happy tune and was inspired by my first very successful 3D graphics character, Aya, who appears in all of the many video images. The 1st non-title image is a section of my "Quest of the Solar Flower" book cover as a friend said that this is how she visualised one of the key female characters in it. Skipping the next image, in the following 3 she's with her younger sister, Jaya, then later on where she appears in 1 image as a blue-eyed blonde, she's playing the part of Blonde, Jane Blonde, an IO agent and comrade of Knightly, Daley Knightly, Agent o-oh-Oh-OH=wAo=! (as in my instrumental of that title).

Cast in order of appearance:
Drums: Country Rock Guitar Solo Pop Band ~
Brian Fullen
Bass guitar: Ditto ~ Tobin Frank
Rhythm guitar: Ditto ~ Darin Favorite
Organ: Ditto ~ Gene Rabbai
Piano: Solo Acoustic Piano Ballad ~ John Jarvis
Tenor saxophone Solo: Slow Country Pop w/ Tenor Solo ~ Mark Douthit
Guitar Solo: Modern Groove Soloist, Brit Rock ~ Dave Cleveland

96 bars; 4/4, Em; tempo 120; time 3:53

Chay,

Love the organ and piano in this. They both really drive the melody and set the pace. Very cool when the sax comes in and then hands off to the first guitar. Some really excellent guitars in this one.

Another great and musical piece. Awesome mix as well.

Hi, Chay.

Pleasant instrumental - it moves forward and carries me along.

Nice and relaxing song.
The guitar solo is not for me, but the sax more than makes up for it.

Chay, nicely done, again! Like the strong bass driving the beat and the switch offs from the sax to lead guitar and back. The guitar solo is of course much rawer than the sax, but I think that helps build a narrative that's more ambitious and interesting than, say, typical elevator music instrumental music. Anyway...love your song!

Very pleasant track, with nice movement, and well-handled BIAB components. Have you ever thought of adding a melody?
For my taste, I think the guitar solo was too heavy, too thick for this track...maybe just cut it out, re-state the main theme, then go into the 2nd sax solo area?
I also think that over the first section, a nice simple melody would add a lot! Thanks for posting!

You're a deep guy, Chay, and that depth shines bright in your creativity. Yeah, I think the piano is important in the solos. It doesn't interfere and gives a good bed for the soloists to stretch out on. Hey, this one is rather short for a wAo-channel production, but it's not short on quality. Well done.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Chay,
I remember this. Neat remix. As others mentioned, I also think guitar is a bit wild, otherwise good. Thank you for sharing.

Hello Chay,

The piano and organ lay a perfect bed for the lead tracks. Perhaps a less aggressive guitar track would be a potentially better change to consider. Everything else is so nicely laid back and soothing. For me, the guitar id kind of analogous to napping in a chair and someone coming in and tripping over your feet, interrupting the ethereal solitude of the experience.

Everything else is spot on. All your backing tracks meld flawlessly and are a treat for the listener's ears. This is a really nice song!

Alan

Thanks, Bob! There seems to be some disagreement over the guitar solos, but I love them and would never change them for an alternative.

Thanks, B.D.! I love Dave Cleveland's guitar style, so I'd never change the 2 solos in this.

Thanks, Ron! Some are pro and some anti the guitar solos, but besides loving Dave Cleveland's style of playing, which is very unique, the piece needs something more pokey to follow the sax solos, while the 2nd sax solo doesn't suffer because it follows the 1st guitar solo. In fact for me the 2nd sax is given a boost because of it.

Thanks for the great response, Mario. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. It definitely has more drive then the pre-remix.

Thanks for listening and repsonding, Tano. Due to the extreme limitations of where I live I can neither record playing guitar nor vocals - unless my older OAP neighbour is out, which is very rare - so while I have at least 4 sung songs I want to record I currently can't, thus I compose purely with BiaB samples and that makes adding a melody impossible. I also have no space for a midi. Awhile ago I experimented creating a vocal song for this and at a slower tempo it works well for that, though with so many projects in hand I've never gotten around to furthering that idea.

Thanks, Marty! "Aya Rocks" is actually my 3rd shortest instrumental. I just checked and I've only done 4 under 4 minutes, then 9 x 4-5 minutes, then 21 over 5 minutes. What's really surprised me about this instrumental is that it's done better than any other post re initial YouTube views. 165 before posting on the forum.

Thanks for listening and commenting, Misha. I like the wild guitar solos, but it seems to be a matter of taste based on comments so far.

Thanks, Al. It seems to 50/50 re the guitar solos, but I'd never change them for an alternative style with less drive. For me they work, but based on comments pro and anti I think it's mostly a matter of taste.
