One More Chance

Been a while since I posted one.
This was our attempt at writing in the style of a jazz “standard”.
Leon wrote the lyrics and I played some guitar.
Janice provided the excellent lead and backing vocals recorded by Bud, who mastered the song.

The Band:
RealTracks in style: ~1392:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz Ballad Sw 060 (Very Simple)
RealTracks in style: ~742:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Jazz Ballad Sw 060
RealTracks in style: ~937:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm JazzBalladFreddie Sw 060
RealDrums in style:JazzSwingLewis^01-a:Brushes, Snare , b:Brushes Swirl, Busy Snare

One More Chance

They say an old dog
Can’t learn new tricks
Some things are broken
Just can’t be fixed
Come on, honey
That’s not your style

Give me one more chance
To make you smile
Give me one more chance
To make it right
Don’t give up on us
At least without a fight
I know this love of ours
Still can be repaired
Please don’t throw away
All the good times that we’ve shared

They say a leopard
Can’t change his spots
But on that subject
I’ve got some thoughts
My true colours
Are yet to be revealed
That broken heart of yours
I believe it can be healed

Give me one more chance
To make it right
Don’t give up on us
At least without a fight
I know this love of ours
Still can be repaired
Please don’t throw away
All the good times that we’ve shared

Super song! Really nailed the jazz standard style. The BiaB quartet sounds great. Amazing vocals/harmonies and very effective guitar breaks. Sparkly mix/master. Ya'll nailed it!

Know I should know who Leon is, but I'm guessing it's neither Russell nor Redbone, so I'm stuck.

Hi Peter (and Leon, Janice and Bud)!
A wonderful track to just and listen to with a coffee and a dash of Baileys on an Autumn Saturday afternoon. The song and arrangement is great, and Janice's vocals - especially loved the glissando effects in parts - are evocative. It reminded me somewhat of Mama Cass/Mamas and the Papas type of song.
A great listen!

That arrangement & vocal make is SPOT ON.
Warm, with a slow swing and a sweetly sad story topped off by that solo.
Well done Leon, Peter, Janice & Bud - LOVE it.

Cheers

Sultry in six syllables. Can you decifer the respectful compliment from that? Peter, you know you 3 are my favorite group, and this one is an outstanding example to prove I have great taste. And with Leon in the mix and providing lyrics the quality goes through the roof. Excellent mix, outstanding vocal with creative harmony lines, and your guitar work is always the tastiest candy any ear can chew.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Nice to hear from you guys! A successful change of style, could work as a pop song also, but the skillfully built jazzy approach brings another dimension. Clever lyrics by Leon.

Pleasant arrangement and lovely solo played with passion. And of course Janice's voice and Bud's touch are the cherries on this tasty cake.

A timeless piece, true artisan music, "Give me one more chance/To make you smile" certainly made me smile just like your earlier songs.

Hi, Music Makers (Peter & Co.)

Nice ballad! Janice nails the vocals as usual - love those slides - and the guitar solos are excellent.

Well, the whole band sounds good. And the bass seems to get some extra love in this mix.

As others have said, a pleasant listen. smile

Peter, Leon & Janice,

Everything about this song just works so well. It sounds old, but familiar and the production is perfect.

I can never say enough good things about the way Janice sings. Let's just say I am a huge fan.

Loved it!

Y'all nailed that smokey, hole in the wall, jazz club vibe.

Nicely done
