Youtube: Somewhere Soundcloud: Somewhere Written in April 2022 in response to the songwriting challenge to use the chord progression Em - Am - C - B. The riff used a technique I had learned on another song, and the lyrics were an attempt to make the end of the last line in verses 2 and 3 become the beginning of the first line in the chorus - in a venn diagram sense. On this recording, I played all instruments except piano, drums and horns, which were all generated in Band In A Box. I first recorded it a couple of years ago and came back in December 2024 to add more vocal layers and supply the bass guitar.

LYRICSINTRO/RIFFVERSE 1Some times, it’s great to be heading somewhere
A sense I exist just ‘there’
It’s a wonderful state to be in my dear
Like I’m living without a care
RIFFVERSE 2At other times my memory starts to linger
I’m a wizened cultural thinker
But I’m growing reluctant to ring her
Just in case she’s still doing her …
CHORUSHair … it’s flowing down to me, like the Zambezi to the sea
Her mind can touch the moon, like water reflects her mood
RIFFVERSE 3Often times I’m slipping into despair
Like tactical nuclear warfare
But you reach down and pull me up for air, and I look deep into her …
CHORUSEyes scream … so many different flavours, it’s a shame not to try them all …
Of me and all of you, but I’m wondering how her…
Hair … it’s flowing down to me, like the Zambezi to the sea
Her mind can touch the moon, like water reflects her …
Eyes have so many different shades, it’s a wonder to see them all
Of me and all of you, but I’m wondering if it’s too soon.
