TWILIGHT SCREENING Day's work is done; So long, you Sun; I'm gonna pull up a chair with a cold one, 'Cause the fun's about to begin.. Blue dims to gray, Tip-toes away; In a kind of silent shifting, Daylight's drifting To a mystic in-between. I witness the slow fade Of light to evening shade; If I blink, I'll miss the show that The good Lord has made. How quick you are-- Sunlight for stars; And in a twinkling you've swapped out the backdrop, And the feature for the evening's showing Begins. Tom,
Jazzy, well sung, great lyrics and an excellent mix. Everything about this one works perfectly.
Much enjoyed!

It's a pretty jazz number and I love the mood but I think the mix could be better (lol...here's me like I know). I just couldn't hear everything happening; the vocals were quite far out to my ears.

Tano,
A wonderful write and the backing music sounds really good . . . and the vocal on its own is solid as well. I do have to agree with BYOBand that the vocal is too dominant and out in front too much. Easy enough to fix. I might suggest putting just a tad of reverb and delay on the vocal as well. That's where I'd start, and then once that vocal is sitting where it needs to, then decide whether there are any elements in the backing music that you might want to accentuate. There are some really cool things going on there.
Very cool jazz number!
Deej

I forgot to add...I was thinking of sitting in my folding chair in front of a campfire, dinner over with, just watching for that twilight hour to turn day into night..

Almost perfect - agree with Deej, the vocals could use a bit of reverb. Now they sound like I'm sitting on a stool with my ears inches from your mouth - get them so it sounds like I'm sitting at a table near the stage and it will be perfect. Enjoyed the listen.

I was hooked by the 3rd beat of the first measure. Cool band and fun changes, and I like how you use the strings. That piano is very entertaining, as is your engaging vocals, Tom. Love this music.

Tom, this is a beautiful composition, and really nicely arranged. That's a nice 3D stereo image, too. I don't know if you've made changes, but I LOVE what you're doing (and not doing) with your vocal FX on this one. Really marries nicely with the song style. Great song!

Your VOICE is so, so clear. Wow.
The musical writing is beautiful. The lyrics, I did not even want to read them, but just to listen - so that I'd get the proper listening experience, so to speak. Loved the experience, loved the lyrics. Back to the music: the chord progressions ... you are, evidently, a master ... i.e. fully in control of where you're going with the music, and what you want to say with it, and how to say it. I think that this stands out most, for me ... your musical control, so to speak. But it's incredibly beautiful, the end result, in every way. Bravo.

I always look forward to your posts because I know I will hear something fresh and original. I don't mind vocals that are a bit forward. To my ears, it's better than burying them as some people do. Your singing reminds me of many great songwriters: Hamlisch, Bacharach, all the way back to Cole Porter. It's not Sinatra, but it works well enough. It works with your creative oeuvre. With your motivation to push your creativity each time out, I think that one of these days you're going to write a really great song. One we'll all remember.

Wow, that sounds like a classic jazzy standard from the 40's/50's - one of Janice's favorite periods. Well sung, arranged and mixed. Great session band too.
The strings are nice in the subtle manner that we enjoy.
And we enjoyed it all,
J&B

The like the tune. You make some delightful unexpected turns in the melody. Your vocal sounds good. Nice work putting the band together.
