I think I messed up my ASIO4ALL set up accidentally quickly removing files from my PC. I'm on Win 10 with Biab 15 installed. I have the onboard Realtek Soundcard that is showing a red X on it in my bottom task tray. I've tried many times to troubleshoot to no avail.

I also connected my iPhone to my PC - bluetooth connect and everytime I make a phone call it shows up on my PC screen asking if I want to use the iPhone's speaker as one of the choices.

My Realtek "choice" of audio output is NOT listed when I open the midi/audio driver selection in Biab either.

I also can't hear anything from Youtube either.

When I click on my speaker icon in sys tray it asks to troubleshoot, which I've said yes at least 10x so far, neg results.

I've tried updating driver(s) through control panel and all are updated EXCEPT for VSTMidi driver and it says there is no driver at all.

The last ASIO driver I installed was the Asio4ALL the last time it worked was using Biab.

I'm at a loss here and taking a break to get some food in me rn.

I would appreciate any advice and hellp here. TYVM !!!!

I'm hoping possibly a reinstall of an ASIO driver might help the problem? And, oh yessssss, I've restarted my PC after several failing attempts with drivers/updates/reinstalls etc . . . .

At your mercy here,

Trax of my tears.

It's not likely to be the Asio4all driver if you have no audio output sound at all.

How are your speakers connected to your PC? Is this direct, bluetooth, via an M-Audio, Focusrite device or something else?

Try this:
Go to Control Panel > Settings > Sound > Manage Sound Devices
You should see a list of output devices
Select each and a test button should be displayed
Click on the buttons and one of them should give you an audible melody. If so, that is your current output device.

For whatever reason changing the headphone plug into the rear of my pc did the trick! Thank you. The weird thing is I have been using the 1/8" jack on the front of my pc forever and it has always worked. I switched to the rear plug and it is working now, whew.

I assume the front jack has failed?

I can open and adjust from the pc's soundmixer as well. Thank you for my sanity now, lol.

So far, so good. TY Audio Track !!!!

The jacks on PCs usually have a built-in switch or detector to identify when they're in use. Possibly the change from front to back wasn't detected, of you need to select which output to now use.

Just a side note for those plugging directly into the sound output of the computer and using ASIO4All. This driver is actually not really an ASIO driver. It is a wrapper that mimics ASIO. While it does act like ASIO it is not and sometimes works great other times causes issues. I tried it years ago but found it just made things worse. I always suggest buying a nice audio interface. These devices are truly game changers. They become the heart and soul of the system. Many are not that expensive anymore I bought a Presonus unit for under $100 a while back. I have found that if i do not use the interface i am almost better using the PC's sound board for simple tasks.

Personally, I've never been able to get ASIO4ALL to work on any computer I've owned.

As has been pointed out, A4A is NOT a true ASIO driver and it's simply a wrapper to try to fool your computer software into thinking it's working with ASIO.

The better solution is to eventually purchase an interface that can run "true" or "Native" (real) ASIO and not rely on the consumer sound drivers (MME, wrappers, and codecs) for recording and playback.

I assume the front jack has failed?

Maybe. This can be anything from a path problem to a motherboard failure.

Since you have found a workaround, I recommend declaring victory and moving on. Otherwise, it is possible to spend a lot of hours and money chasing that rabbit down the hole.

I agree with the recommendations to use an interface instead
