MISTER SLIDE Hi Folks, Here's my latest blues song "Mister Slide". This was inspired by the lovely slide playing of the Dobro and National master guitarist Rob Ickes from Nashville Tennessee. He has won twenty three International Bluegrass Music Awards, including winning Resophonic Guitar Player of the Year fifteen times. While he predominantly plays in Bluegrass style his Blues and Jazz playing is also first class as you will hear on this song. Bleedin' Blues. What a great piece of music and so well done, Nigel. Yeah, I'm a big fan of the resophonic sound --like wine, it goes great with anything. A great band always needs a great singer, and this one has him. Well done. It's cool how you slide the word slide.

Nigel, thoroughly enjoyed this…but a bit confused by your description…is Rob Ickes playing on this track “live”? How did you produce this track? So pro sounding in all aspects! Great work!

Nigel, super song and very cool vocals. Love the band and how natural they sound. The arrangement and mix are very clean, too.
Was thrown briefly by the band credits until I cross referenced them as PGMusic artists. They DO sound great...

Thanks for your comments.
Rob Ickes - he has a number of Real Tracks on Band in A Box and I have used one of them on this song.
Mix - over the years I have gradually been using less and less reverb and effects and my mixes have improved accordingly. I set all instruments in BIAB to the default Reverb setting of 40 apart from the bass which has zero (never ever apply reverb to a bass). Then in my DAW I apply a sparing amount of short reverb to the vocals and maybe a touch of extra short reverb to the lead instrument if required. That's it - reasonably professional sounding mix.

Excellent blues song. Is the band BiaB samples? I ask as I was surprised to see Rob Ickes in the list.

Another great one, Nigel! Rob Ickes is obviously good, and your singing is the perfect complement. Jack Pearson did the first blues reso RTs long ago, and his are excellent, too.l I used to jam with MUDDY 585 all the time.
