At the moment I'm writing songs using existing lyrics from my older songs, but with completely different chords, melodies, arrangements and what not. It's whatever you want to call it. I'd say..... partial rewrite. Or complete rewrite depending on what's been altered. Composers and lyricists have been borrowing from themselves for hundreds of years.You have not come up with anything new — except that it's new to you.
