Latest offering, once again utilising AI vocals......which whilst are ok, I think Ill put my own vox on over the weekend if I can lol.

Its a tongue in cheek look at life I guess, kinda influenced by Clint Black's Good Run Of Bad Luck..

Lyrics probably need refining in places, but the meat is there imo

Advice etc happily accepted.

LYRICS

IF IT WERNT FOR BAD LUCK

[Verse 1]
Woke up this morning with my truck on empty,
Flat tire staring like it's trying to tempt me.
Dog ran off and the well went dry,
Only thing that's clear is this blue-gray sky.

[Verse 2]
Toe to the line, but the line always breaks,
Roll the dice, but they come up snakes.
Every door I open just slams in my face,
Can’t find a win, not a single trace.

[Chorus]
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,
Every climb up’s just a longer fall.
Rainclouds chase every step I take,
I'll say right now everything seems fake
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

[Verse 3]
Neighbor hit the lotto, won himself a boat,
Meanwhile, I’m out here hoping my fence’ll float.
They say hard work’s gonna pave the way,
But this gravel road just don’t want to stay.

[Chorus]
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,
Every climb up's just a longer fall.
Rainclouds chase every step I take,
I'll say right now everything seems fake
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

[Bridge]
Preacher says it’s darkest before the dawn,
But I’ve been midnight for way too long.
Maybe someday I’ll find my break,
But for now, I’ve got bad luck to take.

[Chorus]
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all,
Every climb up's just a longer fall.
Rainclouds chase every step I take,
I'll say right now everything seems fake
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.
If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

Excellent country rock song! Great lyrics, great mix and production. Really enjoyed it.

Hi Peter - yes I’d love to hear a Lancashire accent sing this, rather than a southern cowboy twang - not that there’s anything wrong with that!
Great song, good tempo and beat, and love the stops in key places.

You really capture a great country feel with this. Spot on, actually.

I hope this creation brings you lot of good luck grin

Really good…some specific comments:
1) if that’s a synthesized voice, I’m astounded..not sure how you did that, but it sounds perfect for this track!
2) really tight lyrics with beautiful rhyme schemes and exquisite handling of syllables to get just the right movement..no unnatural emphasis or “shoe-horning” of rhymes to make them work
3) the one lyric area that I think needs work is the one about the boat and the fence—I wonder if you can come up with a stronger idea there—this seemed not as clear and evident as the others
4) musically, excellent
Thanks for sharing!

This is some really pop-country. It reminded me a bit of a mix of Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley.

Super lyric and great choice of instruments. The bg pedal steel was particularly impressive. The song has character - for me, that's a great element.

Nice!

Alan

Well done. I enjoyed seeing the BIAB screen scrolling through the song as it played as I could see your use of stops, holds, bar changes, etc.

Thank you for the critique, much appreciated. I totally agree about the boat/fence line, it's the weakest one imo. Have decided to change it to:-

'Meanwhile I'm out here trying to stay afloat'

I think this is more in keeping with the direction of that verse, scans and makes a little more sense lol.

Once again thank you

Regards

Pete
