I wanted to write a 'love song' from a female perspective...........not so easy when you're a 63yr old male lol!!

Anyways, this is what I came up with, vocals are thanks to Suno Female AI and whilst 'she' is pretty good, I had to giggle at the three different pronunciations of Montana!!

Montana In The Rain

[Verse]
Montana's eyes are stormy skies, a gray and gentle hue,
He drives that old truck down the ridge, the tires cutting through.
The gravel spins 'neath heavy clouds, shadows on the lane,
And there I stood, a fool in love, with Montana in the rain.

[Verse 2]
He wore a coat from years gone by, the collar stitched with care,
The scent of cedar, earth, and pine lingered in the air.
We laughed beneath a weathered tree while thunder called our names,
And I found peace, though soaked to bone, with Montana in the rain.

[Chorus]
Oh, Montana in the rain, your heart's a force I can't explain,
Through wind and cold, through joy and pain, I'll keep you warm, I'll keep you sane.
No silver sun, no easy lane could ever match the love we've gained,
So here I stand, my hand in yours, Montana in the rain.

[Verse 3]
The fields were wide with wild dreams, the river carved its path,
And we would chase the lightning's flash and run from heaven's wrath.
But you would hold me, steady, strong, in storms we couldn't tame,
A softer man, a fiercer love, my Montana in the rain.

[Bridge]
The storm it fades, the skies grow clear, but still you linger close,
Through drying roads, through warming air, it's you I love the most.
And though the sunshine lights our way, the memories remain,
Of when I found my truest love in Montana in the rain.

Instrumental Break

[Bridge/Ending]
The storm it fades, the skies grow clear, but still you linger close,
Through drying roads, through warming air, it's you I love the most.
And though the sunshine lights our way, the memories remain,
Of when I found my truest love in Montana in the rain.

Excelent Job!
Did you feed the progression to Suno Female AI and it wrote vocal lines or did you take the progression from Suno and transcribe into BIAB?

Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).

Firstly thank you for your comment.

As regards the suno AI vocals, it was a bit of both to be honest. I told suno what chords I wanted and let it do it's thing ( after putting my lyrics into the editor) if I recall it took about half a dozen regens to get somewhere near to what I was looking at, then it was a case of isolating the vocals I wanted from each regen then into Mixcraft whereupon rather a lot of cut, paste, copy etc ensued!! Very time consuming and not something I'd want to be doing a lot of lol.

The melody that suno produced was not exactly what I was hearing in my head, but it was pretty damn close.

A beautiful song and production all around. I think the AI vocals are excellent and so much better than SynthV which I'm mostly not keen on. I only noticed 2 AI pronunciations of 'Montana'. I get the same from humans with my surname. It's pronounced the same as in Santana and Sultana, but I often get it mispronounced as Tanna/Tanner. If I have to give my name over the phone I just say Tango Alpha November Alpha!

#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Well done. Also interested in how you got the AI vocal. Does Suno provide a "clean" stem of the vocals only - that is not with all the artifacts that you get with normal stem separation like many of the new DAWs have?

Why don't you sing your self? These AI vocals sound so synthetic. Your own vocals would give your songs those miles behind you.

Firstly I wrote this song with a female voice in mind, and as hard as I might try, I can assure you that this 63yr old MALE, could never sound the way I wanted the song to sound.

Secondly, as a rule I do actually prefer to do the vocals myself, however I am more than aware that thanks to COVID my voice is nowhere near where it was a few years ago when I was gigging with my band for over 20 years!

Thirdly, and finally I actually quite like experimenting with new ideas so AI is part of that. When you think about it, BIAB could be thought as AI. in it's purest form after all although the real tracks are real instruments/artists they are put together by an algorithm over which we, as the end user have some control.

I hope this answers your question👍

Pete

No I'm afraid not! It's your normal stem separation, artifacts included!! In fact you can hear some artifacts in this even though I did my best to eq then out.

That said, with the way things are going with AI, I honestly don't think it'll be long before you can get a much cleaner stem......

Thank you, much appreciated.

Now I wonder if using the phonetic alphabet would have helped 😂😂😂......hmm that gives me an idea!

Beautiful song, nice arrangement and good vocals.
The vocal stem artifacts are a bit of a downer though, but removing the artifacts is a science in itself and unfortunately song-dependent, so there's no rule to remove them all.
It's a "learning by doing" thing.

Thank you so much for your comments. Very much appreciate it. As regards the artefact, you're completely right. It is a science in its own. I managed to EQ quite a bit of it but the more I listen the more I hear them. I'm going to have a little play and perhaps put the file to melodyne See if that picks up the artefacts as well as vocals. Separate them might stand a chance of getting rid of more of them. Has anyone ever done that had any success?

I've not proved read this as I'm doing it by voice text while driving. I know bad boy so if he reads weird I apologise

Pete, like your tune a lot, and the BiaB arrangement is quite nice. Very nice mix, too. Vocals are a bit hit and miss, but often quite impressive. Think this was a worthwhile experiment.

Thank you, and yes I agree the vocals are in need of a real human, trying to cajole either my wife or young daughter to do the honours lol.

It was, however worth a try imo also👍

Wow, this is great. I know diddly squat about country, but it sounds like a hit record to me. I only heard Montonna once, otherwise, it was fine. I need to try Suno.

Well answered to my comment. Good luck with your experiments. Maybe I should give up myself and let the computer sing instead of me and save me from the shame of my vocals.

Ah, anyway you say it, Montana is beautiful in the rain --also at anytime. Beautiful song, Pete. The vocal sounds good, albeit Montana-challenged. Excellent instrumentation and very pleasing mix.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Pete, this is an outstanding song
You put a lot of time in that AI vocal and it showed, you have more patience that I!
Loved the backing tracks

Very nice, Pete.

To me, it has a John Denver vibe but directed to a female performance. Ain't nothing wrong with that! The vocal artifacts didn't bother me much at all. If the song were to be released for airplay, they'd need some touch-up. Otherwise, I think the vocal is fine. the song itself is the star, and it's a great song.

Thanks for a nice listen.

Alan

PS: I know many folks aren't big on AI production in music. But then again, my father (1901 - 1968) decried drums in a country song and said it was gonna ruin country music. he was a little off with that assessment. AI is here to stay it's not going anywhere except higher up the tool rack for creators. I say, use what's needed for the sound you want.

Best to you

Alan
