Like I said, to each their own.
I hope you are successful at producing music for TV and movies.
I don't watch TV, but I do some movies, and the music is always paid attention to and evaluated. It can enhance the emotional content of the media.
Sometimes I think the music is overpowering and masking the dialog, and other times, not enough. I suppose everyone has their own 'sweet spot' between the two.
It must be a tough nut to crack, though. Fewer opportunities than radio or Internet music. I suppose it would help if you figured out how to meet the right people.
In Australia we rented a small camper van, to give us the freedom of movement. I did spend a day skin diving on the Great Barrier Reef. The guide took us to a protected area, where only a few boats are allowed and no scuba. Fine with me, I can free dive to 65 feet and most of the interesting life forms are more in the 30 feed zone.
I've done a lot of diving, both scuba and snorkel, in Florida and The Caribbean. I was amazed at the similarity of the life in the South Pacific to that of the Atlantic. More like variations of the theme.
If you want to do it, I advise you to go as soon as possible, as there is so much coral bleaching going on now. I don't go diving anymore because it isn't the same as the water I grew up in. But then that wasn't the same as the previous generation, either.
There is enough left to enjoy, but every year there is less.
Australia was the most different place I've visited, mainly because of the wildlife. But what I liked most about Australia was the people. Friendly, open, and at the same time civilized. Need to change lanes in traffic? Put on your blinker, and they will slow down and let you in every time. Say "hi" to a stranger on the street, and you might end up talking to your new friend for hours. I've been to all 50 states and every continent but Antarctica, and if I were to move out of the USA, that would be my first choice. But I'm not going anywhere, despite it's problems (and every country has problems) I love it here.
