BIAB 2025 (1128). I've been a regular user of BIAB since 1998 (!), so I can't say this is a "newbie" question, but I have to admit, I am truly baffled.
I create a song using a style, any style. I freeze the tracks when they sound good, I then create a MultiRiff on an unused track for a hot lead intro solo and mid-song break. All tracks are frozen. Cool. So, I create an MP3, load it up into Audacity, finalize the MP3. Great...ready for testing live...
Wait. I don't like one of the geetars...Mr. Thrasher sounds like he's on an ego trip. No problem. I'll just go back to the "drawing board," unfreeze the tracks and replace the offender with James Taylor. Regenerate, and... Mr. Thrasher is still thrashing his axe. So I assign no RealTrack; that ought to do it. Erase track; erase MIDI and RIFF; regenerate. Now, no sound, but there is STILL a dude thrashing something--just look at the track in the Mixer window...thump, thump, thump, in complete silence. If I assign ANY RealTrack to the track, I end up with Mr. Thrasher, not James Taylor, not a hurdy-gurdy, not a harmonica.
In fact, I always thought I could replace any track from a style with a different RealTrack. It looks like I can. I still get the "=..." at the top, but the RealTrack isn't changing. I have never noticed this problem before. Is anyone else encountering this problem? In fact, it seems like the latest update is the cause since I haven't noticed this until now. Perhaps this is early dementia setting in, and I no longer know what I'm doing, or what? Thanks!

Joel, make sure that the Mr. Thrasher track is not frozen prior to adding James Taylor. BiaB will show the James Taylor but play the Thrasher track if Thrasher is frozen - been there - done that. If that doesn't work a return to factory settings/most usually works for problems like this.

Thanks! I copied the chords over to a new song and started from scratch. Apparently, the song had become corrupted somehow.
I still feel that there is a slight chance things go wonky after hitting that Freeze button. I am finding that the Generate Silence capability of MultiRiff seems to work better than just about anything.
I will delete this thread after a while, so I won't cause any confusion; that is, if there aren't others who have had similar experiences.

Joel,
It sounds like you had created an audio file for your BIAB song. This file contained the original sound that you were trying to get rid of. If there is an audio file in the same directory as the song file, and the audio has the same name as the song file but with a different extension (e.g. my_song.mp3, my_song.SGU), then the audio file automatically loads when you open song file. When you regenerate the SGU file and play it, the audio file will also play along.
Double-check your song folder and if there is an audio file in there with the same name as the song, rename it slightly so that the names are not identical.

I've had it happen quite a few times. Sometimes I manage to figure it out, sometimes not. Unfortunately, not enough that I can remember but I think I normally find the problem somewhere in bar settings (F5). I really should start keeping notes
