This is a great listen.
The lyrics, the music, your singing and production all fit together like a hand in a glove.
Everything worked really well for me.

Very much a Cars vibe happening on this one. Excellent vocal! And really well written lyrics. Nice! Thanks, Dave! Love the Cars. This song does have sort of a stripped down "Drive" vibe, now that I think about it. RIP Benjamin Orr. And Ric, of course. Way too many deceased artists in this post!!

This song is a perfect example of "simple is best."
It's true that to bring out the best in this melody, the accompaniment needs to be this simple.
The melody and vocals are wonderful.
And of course the lyrics and accompaniment too.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

“R.W. Davis: Lyrics Me: Music, arrangement, vocals, guitars, mix, master, kleenex AI: Still no” Love the Kleenex mention and the AI status.  Your vocal is great and the phrasing accentuates the sadness in in lyric well. And a well written lyric it is. It sounds like you’re in the same room with us. The open mix with the great sparse band makes it even more intimate. The soundstage it sets up on our monitor is excellent. For us it’s reminiscent of some Neal Young but also of Jeff Tweedy. Great production! J&B THANK YOU, J&B. If I was in the room with you, I hope I was well behaved! Neil and Jeff are both very cool indeed, so I'm humbled. Glad ya'll enjoyed it!
