I had boosted the drums beyond the level I thought was right because I know you always tell me to kick them up a little more & a) your ear is ace & b) you're usually correct about that.
What I had also done was reduce the top end of the kit to cheat a little.
Top end restored &, hopefully, some clarity.
Thank you for the detail.

Ray, loved that intro - brilliant
This is truly a masterpiece, loved that backing band
Loved that arrangement
Everything about this is perfect
You have a great voice, you should showcase it more
IMHO this is your best to date
Loved it

A psychedelic and a mysterious song, the music and vocals support the nightmarish feel. I enjoyed the arrangement, the piano is an excellent choice helping to highlight the intriguing chord progression. The bassline is cool and those guitar fills are dreamy. The mix is very pleasant on my ears, vocals blend nicely into the garden of sounds. Interesting and dark lyrics, cool images like "My flights of fancy hit the ground" & "Life on earth was someone’s dream".

Quite long, but enjoyed every second, the ending was effective. One of your finest artwork led me on a journey to another dimension.

This sounds like it's a majestic song - I love the instrumentation - but I couldn't hear what was being sung in either version.

Hi Ray.

I love your production.
The overarching sound is rich and powerful.
I found the lyrics amazing.
The way that these short snippets of information form such vivid and personal imagery impressed me no end.
Even though I have no expertise in this style of music, I greatly admire your artistry.

Not a smash-and-grab song, but don't think that's what you're going for. Psychedelic prog? Not my expertise, but think you nailed it. Surprised it's a WIP.
Nice to see you posting. smile
Thanks DC,
Not my area of expertise either.
Have you heard the song by Died Pretty called DC?

Well, no, I haven't. But I love this kind of pretty-with-an-edge pop music. Did enough Wiki diving to find that the song is about a deceased friend, David Cox, and not me. smile FWIW, the acoustic guitar being strummed in the video is an Ibanez Ragtime Special, one of the prettiest guitars ever IMHO. We have a history...

Sadly the singer Ron S Peno died of cancer last year. No song for him yet.

Why, thank you Noel,
I think this version of the lyric, in a musical security blanket, is more successful than the previous version.

My mind is saturated with sounds---in a good way. A dreamy trip. I really like this. I'm surprised that is a BIAB piano. Maybe it's the way you edited it to fit your creation.

Ray,
What a cool tune! Beautiful moody Pink Floydish soundscape, yet very original. One of your best of best to my taste. Brilliant. Three spins, sounds awesome and fresh. Nothing to add, but congrats on this gem! Enjoyed it very much.

rayc,

The rayc sound is on full display.
It's a wonderful sound.
The chord modulation that appears in the middle of the melody is definitely your sound.
I also think the choice of instruments is great.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Ray, thanks for sharing WIP—that’s courageous!
I’d add my suggestion to those who wanted your vocal emphasized somehow—too far back for me. The clear-note piano bits were very nice, and there’s some mysterious sounding drone at the end that I think could be boosted as an interesting exit.

A lot of editing, cutting, pasting etc. was used for the piano BUT there was a lot of good stuff to work with...perhaps I'm lucky.

Thanks Misha,
This one hung around for a while until I was able to muster a vocal performance close enough to "in tune" to be able to be tweaked without too many artifacts.

No courageous really,
I needed other ears to give me guidance. I like your suggestion.
Sadly it came a day after the song returned from the mastering engineer.
