Hi
I would appreciate some help to use Band in a Box and FL Studio .I opened the Midi/Driver set up and put fl studio as the Vst/Dxi . Iam not really sure if I did it the best way, but I do see a difference in the sound. But it s different than the original style of Band in a Box. How can I get the original arrangement of Band In a Box with the FL studio sound? How can I make my proper arrangement in the FL Studio , and then with Band in a Box , I can have a chord progression?

Thanks
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Can you describe what you did a little more? In the Band-in-a-Box MIDI Driver Setup, what is the exact name of the MIDI output driver you selected - or if you checked the 'Use DXi synth' checkbox, what is the exact name of the DXi or VSTi synth? Do you know if the FL Studio synth is a GM compatible synth (I'm not familiar with it)? How is it different than the original style of Band-in-a-Box?

Hi Andrew
The VST/DXi Synth and the Route MIDI Thru to MIDI Driver are both checked.
Under that it s written VST/DXi settings ...[IL FL Studio DXi] .When I click on that, I see a window with synth track , in the Plugin :IL FL Studio DXi
And on the bottom ,I even see a picture with the strawberry (or something like that) of the FL Studio;and if I click on that , it opens FL Studio.

Now , without FL Studio, in a Style I can hear, let s say 3 different instruments; but when I put FL Studio, I hear let s say one instrument (maybe this instrument is different than the 3 instruments). I can add other instruments with the FL Studio, but it doesn t seem to go with the chords that I put in Band in a Box (but the one instrument seems to go according to the chords)

Daniel

Hi

What sort of synth are you using in FLstudio,i have never got it to work and i tried using the Soundfont modual as my synth in FL
try loading your BIAB file as a midi file in to FL then you can play it with what ever GM synth you are useing in FL

regards Dave

I forgot to mention that although it s written VST/DXi settings ...[IL FL Studio DXi]....,I don t see FL Studio in MIDI Input driver and Midi output driver. The Midi input is my external sound card , and the output is Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth

Hi Dave
I wish I could answer your question, but I am very confused in the issue. But when I click the FL Studio DXi, it opens FL Studio, and I see on the left 3x Osc.
What do you mean by Soundfont modual as my synth in FL ?

I have the feeling that with Band in a Box and FL Studio , I could get some stuffs that I am looking for, but I don t know how

Daniel

I'm not certain how to get this to work, but it sounds like one patch (instrument) is playing all of the notes that it's receiving from Band-in-a-Box. When you press Play in Band-in-a-Box, BB is sending the synth patch changes on different MIDI channels. For example, it might specify a bass patch on channel 2 and a piano patch on channel 3. This information probably isn't being seen by FL Studio.

After that, and while the song's playing BB is sending all notes that need to be played by a bass patch on channel 2, and all notes that need to be played by the piano on channel 3. The plugin is probably playing all notes with piano or some other single instrument.

Maybe there is a way within FL Studio that you can assign certain instruments to certain channels before you press Play in BB. You might want to mute the BB drum track until you have sorted out how to get everything else to play.

You can see which channels BB is using for each track, by going to Opt. - Preferences - MIDI channels.

I have BIB 2006 and FLStudio. What I do is record midi file from BIB song, then go to FLS and import associated midi file and then change all instruments to VSTi instruments, then save as mp3.
Sometimes, it comes off, sometimes not - but that's down to the user!
