Rewind Me
We first posted Rewind Me nearly 10 years ago (the first of our writes with Peter.) Several years back we asked Ray to play bass on it for a video creation and posted the results here. Recently we thought that it would be fun to distribute the audio Peter & Ray version to the streaming platforms. Back when I replaced the bass with Ray’s track I made no changes to the 2016 mix. After a new look at the mix the need for changes was apparent … time passes and things change and hopefully we learn a wee bit from that. So … yay he got to the point, here’s the new mix and mastering that is now on Spotify, etc. As always if you choose to listen we appreciate your time and comments. And thanks to Peter, Ray and as always PG Music. Oh, and the genre? How about reggaefunkblues. smile The lyric is on SoundCloud.

Janice: cajon, vocals, arrangement and mix
Peter: guitar, mix and arrangement
Ray: bass
Bud: lyric, mix, arrangement and mastering

Vocals: Rodes NT1 > Scarlett 212 > Nectar 3
Percussion: Meinl Cajon (mics front/rear to separate tracks) > Waves CLA Drums
Drums: RD Reggae sw (kick and snare removed) > Waves CLA Drums
Organ: RT 1159 Reggae sw > Neutron 3 > TruVerb
Piano: RT 1160 Reggae sw > Waves CLA Unplugged
Handclaps: Various loops > Waves JPL Percussion

Mastering: Ozone EQ > Ozone Stabilizer > Ozone Impact > Ozone Imager > Ozone Dynamic EQ > Ozone Maximizer > Ozone Tonal Balance > Logic Pro Loudness Meter

Glad ya'll pulled this out of your archives! Cool song, cooler vocals, super funky wah guitar and THAT BASS is hypnotic and sublime. Love the clarity of the mix. And that ending is a nice surprise only listeners of a certain age will remember. But I think that demographic is fairly well represented on this forum. Ya'll have been crushin' if for a while it seems...don't stop!

Janice & Bud,

This is an awesome remix. It's amazing how we hear new things in our older songs. Janice is outstanding, as is the rest of the crew. The mix here is big, refined and really benefits from Bud's expertise and experience with these tools.

Love the video as well - it has a very cool retro feel.

Excellence all around!

The mix is good. No complaints. So, can I assume that Ozone is the primary difference from the older mix?

Thanks big time. J&B loved the wah-wah and we agree that Ray definitely elevated it all with the cool bass lines. Thanks for mentioning the tag - boomer stuff we reckon. smile

Much appreciated,

J&B

Well, I never heard the first version so can't compare, but I can easily say this is my favorite of yours. I'm a sucker for funk, but it's more than that. Janice's voice couldn't be more perfect.

Ok, what I am to write? Because, once again, everything is superb.

Janice sings as naturally as if she was born destined to do this, which I fully believe she was. The arrangement and mix is absolutely incredible, from every point of view (super clear in my headphones, too). The guitar WAILS ... the bass is real funky, with punctuated accents ... what else? Oh, I loved the ending, too, haha smile

You set the benchmark others have to follow. Congratulations, each and everyone involved. A thoroughly professional production.

Thanks Bob! Our reaction to our older songs varies from “what the heck was I thinking?” to “well actually that sounds pretty decent.”😀

We’re happy you liked it and the video.

Much appreciated,

Very unusual beat to place the claps - takes some time getting used to, but a nice contrast to a genre that relies heavily on back/off/whatever beats.
The bass is an important part of reggae, and Ray's noodling together with Janice's beating that poor Cajon (one of the few instruments I really LOVE to play) creates the perfect groove, while Peter fills the rest with tasteful little licks - perfect.
Production is perfect, and Janice is just - Janice. Nuff' said smile

Hi, J&B.

As usual, in the pocket and grooving along. It gives me the image of a some funky machine rolling up the street, with the claps corresponding to a car backfiring, like some swampy vehicle that's rolled out of the bayou.

Everything fits together and sounds great!

Glad you liked the mix. Below are the changes. Primary or secondary? Dunno but we felt they all played a role in improving it.

- Added a revised bass track from Ray

- Changes to Nectar reverb and delay via more current user preset

- Changes to CLA Drums on cajon tracks

- Changes to CLA Unplugged on piano track

- Changes to Logic Pro volume lane on guitar solos

- Changes to complex Logic Pro volume lane on drums

- Multiple panning changes

- Multiple volume/reverb changes to the four handclap tracks.

- Conversion of several tracks to mono

- Changes to Ozone module chain including new modules and tweaks to others starting with reggae reference

Lotta time spent on it.

That’s about all we recall but I likely forgot a few.

Janice, Bud, Peter and Ray,

It's a great reggae sound.
Janice, Ray and Peter each bring their own great style.
I sometimes remix my old works, so I understand the desire to remix.
This is a great remix.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Excellent song and production. I'm sure I've heard it and also seen the YT video before. Definitely prefer the remix and that organ really adds to it.

Fabulous! Love the wha guitar, just a super sound that fits the song like a glove.
And just a great groove. Ray is right in the pocket, and Janice is magnificent as per usual.
Killer job on the mix, Bud!

Oh, it is so enjoyable. PB&J is my all-time favorite trio, and couldn't imagine how it could ever be more exciting. But having Ray in there is even more enjoyable. So well done, Ray. Great mix, Bud, too. I like it when I can hear every note the bass plays.

Hey, it's kinda strange that I haven't mentioned how thrilled I am with your singing, Janice, and your technique and perfect contributions on guitar, Peter. Janice, excellent beat on the cajon, too.

Ray, excellent taste and technique. I like the way you think when there're only four strings. Great feel.

Enjoy whatever happens!

There's a mix of gospel blues and reggae when you listen to this. The claps sound great, as does everything else.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
