There was a guy in town who played all the country clubs, high end events, and of course the Holiday Inn lounge as well as The Tiki Club. I never played with this guy. He was a hard task master, played lots of jazz stuff and expected his musicians to play the correct chords. If it was an Ab7#5 you better not play a plain old A bar chord. And he paid his musicians as little as possible. As a result, he only worked with a few players and only when they needed money and weren't doing something else. As a result, he often played alone and used the drums and orchestration in his keyboard rather than hiring musicians.

Anyway... I digress..... Yep that hit the spot.

Thanx Herb I'm glad it brought back some memories.

PS - I would fire the musician whom played an A barre chord when the rest of the band was playing an Ab7#5.

Many years ago I auditioned for a funk band that wanted every part to be played exactly liked the record. I said then why wouldn't people just play the record? I wasn't interested in the job and they weren't interested in me.

I think my wife has started to show the first signs of dementia.
She said she can't remember what she ever saw in me!
