You've already "resolved" this via Simon and your cautious nature. But there is at least one more reason to at least save these files off on a USB drive or another drive or wherever and that is:

The day you need to reinstall a file, for whatever reason, may be a day or two or longer where you've lost your internet connection (e.g., service went down, modem/router got fried, PG is offline for some reason).

I'm not only cautious- I'm paranoid.
