I tried to find a previous thread for this request as there are many veterans that told me they had already made a request, however, I couldn't find one. So, I won't go into the MAJOR cursing storm I had yesterday after I discovered the brilliant arrangement that BIAB just wiped away, and I can't remember EXACTLY how it happened, but it was regarding using the choosing the Song, NOT Style picker. All I'm concerned with right now is PLEASE put a UNDO as the FIRST choice under the Edit Menu, just like EVERY other DAW I've worked with for over 20 yrs. C'mon guys and gals. I have the presence of mind to IMMEDIATELY stop, and go back to the last edit so I don't lose my work. PLEASE make this change.
With all due respect, if you've ever worked in most any other DAW, whenever you click on Edit/Undo it usually undoes the last immediate change, whatever that change is. Now, if BIAB's convention does something else, I couldn't figure it out, and neither could the other guys on this thread, or at least, that's what I understood from the original post I made before I came to the Wishlist. In other words, if you meant to imply that there's a kind of a menu whenever you click on Undo. However, just so you understand kind of how we're thinking, we're expecting to immediately Undo ANYthing that was previously done. If anyone else would like to chime in, please do if I'm not explaining it correctly. Thanks for checking by Simon.

If that's what was done - opening a song - then that's an action that cannot be undone; this isn't only true for BB, it's true for basically any software I've ever used.

That's also what BIAB does, however there are some actions that cannot be undone. Opening a file is one of them. If I'm misunderstanding, please provide your best recollection of the sequence of events that you wanted to undo, and I'll see if I can replicate the issue or offer any guidance.

That is not entirely true. "Any program" would open a "second, third, etc." (song/document) without affecting original. That's the reality. If anything destructive is being done to the project - warning is usually displayed. That's how most programs that I am aware of function.
The best practice in my view, since BIAB can't host 2 or more songs at the same time (Unlike most programs), is to have a proper Undo that reverts last action. No matter what that action is. With common (to other programs) exceptions like Solos, Mutes, GUI adjustments, Closing project.

Many programs, but far from all, and it doesn't look to be the standard in the audio industry. Pro Tools, Cakewalk, Performer, and Studio One don't do that - you have to close one project to open another, and none allow for multiple instances. Reaper doesn't by default either, unless you manually open a new tab before opening a second project. FL Studio allows for multiple instances, but it looks like opening a song will close the existing one by default. The only other DAW that I know of which lets you have multiple projects open in separate windows is Logic, which prompts you whether to keep the existing song open or not.
By comparison, BIAB supports multiple instances, so you can have as many BB songs open as your computer can handle, and you can copy/paste some things between them - though to create a second instance you either need to manually open one before opening a song (same as in Reaper and FL), or open a song file from outside of BB. Like in Reaper (and likely many other programs), opening a song file from within an existing instance assumes you want it opened in that instance.

And at least in the most common ways, that's how BB works - if you close the song without saving, or open a new song with the current one unsaved, BB will prompt you. As mentioned in this thread though, there certainly are things that don't have a warning, like changing the style - and I'll certainly lean on the devs to have that one corrected.
Simon, in all due respect I have Studio One Pro 7 and I have opened two and three different programs simultaneously. I can copy tracks between the programs. The projects are in different windows however you can only have one window open at a time.
Can your Studio One do this or am I not getting the correct picture. I have been know to be out in left field many times.
I'm in a fitness protection program. I'm been hiding from exercise.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

My bad, Studio One can open multiple songs (not separate windows, but within one window). It was a bit buried and I couldn't find it at first.

Simon, Cakewalk allows for multiple songs to be open at the same time. Only one would be in "focus"... Opening a new project will not overwrite any other opened / active projects.
Future proof BIAB solution would be to identify destructive actions and program "current state save" when executed, so users can Undo.
1/2 donkey solution would be to have warning pop up if action is irreversible.
To undo or revert to the previous Style - type S4 or Shift+F9 in any bar of the Chord Sheet and press Enter The current style will be listed at the top and the Style beneath the first Style is the prior style the current style replaced. Up to 150 previously used styles will be listed There are other useful options with this method
