I have used the same song settings for years but Visible Metronome has stopped working in the 2025 version. Has something changed?

Hi Tony. The visible metronome works fine in my BIAB 2025. I tried the options for "lead in" and "whole song" (both top right corner and center options). Have you checked that the settings have not somehow been changed (maybe by an upgrade or update). Also check that the 'Size' window for the metronome has a suitable value in it. I checked, and for me the visible metronome works fine. Can you check that you're using the latest build version 1128? In Band-in-a-Box, go to the Help menu, and click About Band-in-a-Box. Near the top of that window, it will have Version 20xx and a number in brackets - What is the number in brackets next to the year? If it's lower than 1128, please download the latest update from here: https://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm

Thanks Noel and Simon for the replies.
All the metronome options are set correctly as they have been for years and I am using version 1128 however I may have solved the problem without understanding why.
There is an option under Song/Action Menu/Options that for some reason I had set to "Play When Chosen" This isn't the way I want it so I deselected the option and now the metronome works again - go figure!
I have learned over 25 faithful years with BIAB never to count my chickens so I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks for passing on this information, Tony. I rarely use the "Open Special | Open Favorite Songs" and I have never used the "Play when chosen" option. I would never have discovered this solution.
Out of curiosity, did you try resetting to factory settings? I find that that is often a good thing to do when BIAB starts doing something that it doesn't normally do. It is possible that returning to factory settings would have corrected this.

Yes, I tried a return to factory options earlier. I am always a bit confused when I do this because I am not sure what to do next. Do I relode my saved options or reinstate them one at a time which means I have to remember which ones I was using previously? Tony

If you reload your saved options, and those options were saved when you had the problem, you overwrite the RTFS.
My approach is...
1) Save my present settings (\Options\Save Preferences As...) so that I can get back to my original settings if I need to.
2) Use "Options\Return To Factory Settings" using the MOST choice first time around. This choice keeps the setup of the audio and MIDI drivers in place.
3) If the MOST choice doesn't solve the problem, then I repeat the RTFS and choose the ALL option. This will affect the audio and MIDI drivers, and they will need be setup again afterwards.
4) If neither MOST nor ALL solves the problem, I exit BIAB, and I rename intrface.bbw and MySetup.DK to intrface.bbw.old and MySetup.DK.old. These files are in \bb\Preferences. This renaming keeps the original files as well as stops BIAB from seeing them, and it forces BIAB to recreate new versions of the files when next time the program is started. It is the ultimate version of RTFS. Audio and MIDI drivers need to be set up again after this.
5) After renaming the files, I then restart BIAB.
If the problem still exists after all these steps, I sometimes reload the preferences.

Tony What have you done in between it working and now? Did you reload any of your preference files? Have you tried returning to defaults again?
