Hi Folks.
This fairly uncomplicated tune for some reason took significantly longer to complete than I have anticipated. Probably lack of sunshine past few weeks smile All comments, especially on the mix are welcomed and encouraged. Thank you for listening.

Heart Of Ice

Dim headlights cut through morning haze,
Road winds like eternal lace.
How many times I have passed through this town?
It's faded signs, abandoned farms.
Rustic weathervane points to the south,
Courts clock with frozen arms.

Will I ever see you again?
Will I ever hear your voice?
I am going slowly insane in the midst of this endless noise.
I have buried my pain under beautiful lies,
I am burning this place to melt your heart of ice.

Gray morning, rain don't want to stop
Dark coffee in a paper cup.
How many times I have passed through this town?
Which has seen better days, when I was so young.
Crooked steeple casts shadows on the gravestones
Orphaned bell with missing tongue.

Will I ever see you again?
Will I ever hear your voice?
I am going slowly insane in the midst of this endless noise.
I have buried my pain under beautiful lies,
I am burning this place to melt your heart of ice.

Misha, very cool! Nice opening and ramp to the first section. Love the "I am burning this place to melt your heart of ice" lyric. Your vocals are slinky and so very nice, and the harmonies over them are perfectly distanced and also very cool. The BGV on the outro is quite exotic and an unexpected pleasure as well. The arrangement works quite nicely, and makes me want to dance. Which is not like me at all. So...nice one!

On the mix I' d suggest that my ears hear a few elements - the chop guitar & the cymbals, are a little crisp.
The song is great, the vocal is strong, confident and expressive, carrying a narrative full of quotable, enviable lines.
You always get fab results with 4644.
EXCELLENT.

And again....another cool one from you.

I'd like to hear your vocals a few dB higher in the mix. Aside from that, everything is in it's place. Sounding good.

As just posted elsewhere, I can't listen to your music just now as SoundCloud won't let me listen without logging-in to the site. I've been having this issue for a couple of weeks: sometimes it simply lets my play and listen as always previously, sometimes I can't listen to the main post, but I can listen to the same post in the bottom bar, sometimes it throws up a log-in window which I can switch off and then listen, but today there is no bottom bar to click 'play' on and when I remove the log-in window it just comes back up when I try to play the main post.

Hi, Misha.

This is the kind of ear candy I love!

Slinky melody, dancing vocals, cool poetic lyrics and a rhythmic, funky groove.

Excellent! smile

Hey Misha,

So, you blame the lack of sunshine for this taking longer than expected? ☂ I'm picturing you, wrestling with MIDI programming, muttering darkly about seasonal affective disorder while simultaneously crafting this surprisingly cheerful-sounding lament! That juxtaposition, my friend, is chef's kiss. 🥄 ʘ‿ʘ

Seriously though, "Heart of Ice" is another testament to your ability to blend the beautiful with the bleak. The lyrics paint a picture of desolate landscapes and emotional turmoil, while the music is bopping along as though it hasn't got a care in the world. It's like a Russian novel set to a tropical house beat – utterly compelling. 🎀

And that voice! It's got that fantastic, slightly enigmatic quality that keeps me utterly hooked. It's like you're telling me a secret, but in a way that makes me want to dance. That flute duel going on with your vox gave me a chuckle, next time give them both their own ring corners to strut their stuff!. 😠

You've woven another rich tapestry of sound here, Misha. It's got that unmistakable Eastern European flair mixed with a dash of something entirely your own. Thanks for sharing a little piece of your soul (and your sunshine-deprived creativity!) with us.☼
Loved it (。♥‿♥。)
Best,

Izzie.

Oh, man, I always love your songs, and can't say any of them are uncomplicated in some way. Love the feel, Misha. Great band well mixed. Man, you are so good at composing, then bringing in the best players to bring it to our ears. Love the vocals --all of them. Thanks for sharing.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Such an original sound and groove. The electric piano and the flute (synth?) are the backbone for me. I read through your lyrics first (always good) and tried to imagine where you would go musically with them. You didn't disappoint.

Misha,

Every time I click on one of your new songs, I know I'm in for a treat. Your originality is just so good. Love the strong drums. And like Ray mentioned, that EP RT is always a winner.

Your mixes are stunningly good. loved everything about this.

Best to you,

Alan

A very pleasant atmospheric groove that is a perfect fit for the top-notch lyrics. I found the flute a bit intrusive during verse 2. Could be pared back if you feel it's an absolutely essential companion to the vocals at that point.

Ditto all the positive feedback…totally enjoyed this…you are so creative…I learn each time I listen to your work. One thing I can add…I think that doubling your vocal with the flute on the very first line was a great concept to get the listener completely locked onto the lyric. Great job!!

Always nice to hear tropical rhythms on this forum and together with slavic nostalgia and melancholic chord progression this is a very enjoyable musical expedition. Lyrics paints beautifully the gray town.
Rich arrangement, the flute sounds great, although slightly competing with the vocals.
Enjoyed the sentimental vocals. Sounds like the chorus is sung almost with one breath smile
