KIDNAPPED BY MY CHEVY This song started out a month ago as a backing for some lyrics my daughter gave me to work with. The style was ASPEN.STY (Aspen Songwriter Pop). Key A at 127 bpm. It wasn't exactly what she was looking for and, rather than ditch it entirely, I reworked it and wrote my own lyrics. Current Style is _RKBLYTX.STY (Rockabilly & Texas Blues/Rock) RealTracks in style: 2351:Bass, Acoustic, RockabillyRockNRoll Ev 165 RealTracks in style: 2353:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm RockabillyRockNRollKevin Ev 165 RealTracks in style: 882:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm TexasBluesRockHighOffbeat Ev 165 RealTracks in song: 2764:Organ, Rhythm CountryBluesRockMike Ev 110 RealTracks in song: ~~1120:Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming Ev 165 RealTracks in song: 412:Guitar, Electric, Soloist Cowboy Ev 165 RealDrums in style:RocknRoll^01-a: Swinging Ride , b: Swinging Hat Tempo 153bpm Key:Eb KIDNAPPED BY MY CHEVY I had a dream it was kinda bizarre I leave the house, jump into my car I start her up, and she's purring sweet Hit the gas, we cruise down the street We reach the corner, turn the wheel to the right But the car turns left and, try as I might She's roaring off to who knows where I step on a brake that's no longer there I've been kidnapped by my Chevy and the world's flashing by If she don't stop soon, I'm sure, sure gonna die I've been kidnapped by my Chevy and the world's flashing by If she don't stop soon, I'm sure, sure gonna die She runs a red light at Houston and Main We're leaving Dallas at a speed that's insane Can't bail out cause we're going too fast Fort Worth comes and goes in a flash Who knew my Chevy had this much thrust? Enjoyed my joy-ride, Brian! Nice, tight backing for your storyline. I esp liked the concise, accurate rhyming lyric construction. Meaning no disrespect, the “band” was there primarily to support your sung story—and that’s exactly as it should be, letting the lyric vocal shine while keeping the tempo up and the music moving along. Really good track!

Hi Brian! You’ve got a really good toe-tapper here. I loved the use of the minor chord at the end of the line ‘Sure gonna die’.
Seeing you’re from SA, I would have more expected that you would be kidnapped by your Chery, and “She runs a red light at Grenfell and Frome. we’re leaving Adelaide and we’re not alone”? LOL
Good work.

Thanks Andrew,
I considered an Aussie version but I decided this one might have broader appeal.
As for "we're leaving Adelaide and we're not alone" I thought everyone who was going to leave would have done so by now. Maybe they missed their chance.

Brian, Super catchy tune. Wonderful arrangement. Vocal performance is ACE. It feels happy, but can't stop thinking about "I step on a brake that's no longer there" Mix is clear and listens very well. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

Love this. Reminds me of some of the country music story songs of the 60s, maybe even Ricky Nelson. Nice arrangement and super vocals. That's a nice warm FX chain on the vox. Great job!

Thank, Rusty but can't stop thinking about "I step on a brake that's no longer there" For many years I worked as a bus driver. A recurring nightmare involved being at the wheel of a bus that's running out of control, backwards down a steep hill, towards a cliff. The footbrake doesn't work and the hand-brake comes away in my hand...

Thanks, Ron. That's a nice warm FX chain on the vox. Recording vocals has been a headache for the last couple of months. Had a major glitch on the desk-top which required a back-to-factory-settings reinstall. I was not able to reinstall some programs and while others just don't work as well as they once did. For instance, vocals were usually recorded in Reaper DAW and enhanced with Vocal Finalizer. I can record perfectly but when it comes to playback or rendering the sound file I get one second of silence every 15 or 20 seconds. The only way I've found to overcome this is to open 3 new vocal tracks and record them all simultaneously. I render that as a single track and boost any word or phrase that is too quiet by 5-6db. Not perfect, but good enough.

Brian, this is absolutely a fantastic song. It had me grinning from the git-go. Five cops on your tail, fell out of bed, taking the train - hilarious. Great backing band. Outstanding vocal! Loved it.

Brian,
Great storyline in this. An excellent example of songcraft.
Really enjoyed it. Tight as a drum. Clever but not campy. Funny but not Hee Haw.
You got a good one here buddy. Exceptionally well done.

Hi, Brian.
Fun song, and put together well. It held my attention from start to end.
I especially liked the clarity of the mix and vocals.

Great concept for the song. All is nicely balanced in the mix and production. Enjoyed it.

Great song, loved the lyrics. There were moments where you sounded a little like Glenn Yarborough to me, never noticed that before with your voice. Super job overall!

Thanks, TM. I appreciate your comments. I wasn't familiar with Glenn Yarborough, so I looked him up on YT. Talented guy.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
