Soundcloud - Mrs O'Connor Youtube - Mrs O'Connor The video is in the form of a lyric video but with some sub-par acting to illustrate a person reading a book containing the lyric story. *** FICTION ALERT ***I wrote this song in May 2025 in response to a songwriting challenge to write a humorous song. The storyline is fictional - just in case anyone is wondering. These circumstances have never happened to me and I doubt they ever will. My hope is that if it did, I would take the same moral stand. I won't describe the lyrics or the plot in case you're reading this ahead of watching. I think it is best experienced in the moment.I wrote music and lyrics, with the music backing generated in Band-In-a-Box and recorded, mixed and produced in Cakewalk. Knocking cautiously and to my surprise Mrs O’Connor looked me straight in the eyes With one swift manourvre pulled me in by my tie She slung me down and under vice-like thighs Amazingly quick her hands under my shirt, but I Slithered free going under her skirt, while in the process, I closed my eyes Bolted through the door as fast as I ran, yelling “Mrs O’Connor – I’m a married man!” VERSE 3 I pushed the button for the thirteenth floor, I neatened my tie ready for a meeting The lift stopped on six and opened its doors revealing Mrs O’Connor with salacious greeting Her body pressed against me, all warm and heaving My belt buckle loosened with the sleight of her hand I held my pants tightly, all desperate and panicked But Mrs O’Connor had become rather manic The lift doors opened I fled fast away, saying “Mrs O’Connor – I don’t want to play!” SOLO OVER VERSE BRIDGE Why does she pursue me, what is my appeal? I have nightmares of what her unclothing might reveal It’s nice to know that she found me attractive But such a temptation would be counteractive VERSE 4 The final time, I was walking home at night I could hear steps behind – so I quickly took flight ‘Round a quick corner, I was almost at home When a scarf from an alley pulled me into her zone As she leaned in with lips, she unzipped my trousers Her own chest was beating, she’d unbuttoned her blouse “Don’t do it” I said, “This isn’t wise!” “Hold on! Is this my own wife in disguise?” “Well done my husband, you have passed the exam, And now I know I have an honourable man.” OUTRO Some nights when I come home from a hard day This is what I hear my lovely wife say … “Would you like to meet Mrs O’Connor?”

Andrew, well constructed and very amusing. Very effective vocals and BGVs. Love that you leaned into what I'm guessing is an Australian accent. The BiaB backing works really well and I especially like the zydeco solo. Super arrangement with a nice narrative flow. Very nice!

Love that you leaned into what I'm guessing is an Australian accent. Thanks Ron! Never knew I sang with an Aussie accent, although given I’m from ‘Straya, that would make sense! I was born in the UK, and when I get emotional, my English comes out - so my wife says. The accordion (real track and solo) are from outside the style, so pretty chuffed they congealed together okay. I’ve seen a fair bit of user compilations of real tracks into a new ‘style’ on this forum, so will use that sometimes. Andrew D

Andrew D I'm terrible at accent ID, except for my spouse's lovely West End purr, so SORRY if I insulted! It's just that so many English speaking singers adapt the accent of another English speaking group that it was cool to hear what I assumed to be an Aussie (or maybe English) accent from an Aussie (or Brit). Very cool vocals either way!

Andrew,
This is a really funny song! The Hook is so clever I think someone could actually make a movie out of it. Kind of like Mrs Doubtfire but with a different twist. Like you could have a bunch of wives who are all using this trick on their husbands as a group. If someone else doesn't use this idea I'm going to use it!
But I feel your pain man. God knows I've had to deal with this kind of a thing in real life so many times I've stopped counting. But as I've always told my wife, honey this is one thing you never have to worry about. Yes I may be the most flawed human being on the face of the Earth and the greatest sinner by far, but falling for this type of tomfoolery is the one thing you would never have to worry about. You could take a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and put her in front of me buck naked and I would say well I'm sorry but I'm married you know. And just walk away. It's my one redeeming feature and I hope that it will help me just barely squeak into heaven one day.
As for the music:
I don't think this is as much of a demo sound as you think. I think it's really really close to being commercial in sound with just a couple of tweaks.
There are some people out there on the fringes of the forum who put forth the notion that it's not possible to use real tracks to create a commercial recording. With all of the advancements that have been made of late that's absolute nonsense. For at least the backing tracks, say drums or bass or accordion or what have you, you're going to get exactly what you would get if you hired a live musician to come into a studio and paid everybody $5,000.
The only thing that you have to add in my opinion is one or two instruments of your own that add a little bit more spontaneity or quirkiness to the parts, so you get that element of surprise. Like a signature piano part or a signature guitar part or signature bass part even, something that does things that are so unique and unpredictable that you know they couldn't possibly have been generated by a program. Once you have that it's just a question of mixing it all down and voila you have a song that can sound like any other song that comes out of a modern studio.
Then it becomes just a question of mixing and mastering.
One of the greatest engineers on the face of the Earth, Andrew Scheps, mixes everything in the box on a laptop with cheap headphones. And he has the same vsts that we do. (And he even created a VST version of his own mixing tools for Waves.)
So... I say keep cranking out the tunes and keep experimenting, and I can surely see you coming out with some commercial grade songs. The thing that I really liked about this song is that it is funny, and has a great storyline, and it keeps pulling you along. And the melody is singable and memorable. AI will never be able to do all of that. It's way too predictable. Great human music is unpredictable. And AI does not have a sense of humor.
And yes your voice did have some totally Australian accents to it to me, but there's not a thing in the world wrong with that. I love Australian singers so if you picked up a couple of accent qualities while you're over there then good for you.

Hi, Andrew. Well, that was an appropriately silly song. The happy the backing track matched the attitude of the song. And it's not every day that the word "salacious" appears in a lyric.

, … Very clever and creative song. Great video as well. Excellent mix and love the vocal. Thanks Bob! This was one song that I enjoyed creating including the video, and couldn’t wait to get out there. I had the ‘big reveal’ yesterday morning with my two songwriter mates - we take turns in setting a songwriter challenge and six weeks later, we all have to show up and play what we’ve come up with. … An accordion solo. Very cool. … Thanks Marty! Yes I was very pleased when I found the accordion soloist - that instrument perfectly suited the light-hearted nature of the song. The plot twist at the end came to me a few days after I had the four verses, and I loved the idea that the name used by the undercover wife became ‘code’ for bedroom talk. Andrew D

I love Australian singers so if you picked up a couple of accent qualities while you're over there then good for you. Thanks David for your wonderful response! Picking up on some of the points you mentioned … A - go ahead and use that idea - Mrs O’Connor meets the Revenge of the Stepford Wives😂 B - this problem (unsolicited offers) has never happened to me, but I’d like to think I would respond the same way. My wife is a true introvert and would never become Mrs O’Connor. To pinch a line from As Good As It Gets, ‘She makes me want to be a better man’. C - all I want is one day for my (eventual) grandkids to say ‘Granddad used to write songs’. D - I didn’t add my own playing on this one, but usually add guitars and bass. Quirkiness is my middle name! E - lived here in Adelaide since I was three. Us South Aussies are known for ‘dance pronounced with a of car, not like a of ants’ if you get my drift, so I’m scanning to see what phonetic breadcrumbs I had there. Andrew D

PS - how did you get the book to do a key change? Thanks Mario! I was always going to do a video, but wrestled with how to do this given the subject matter. I scanned Clipchamp but couldn’t find enough ‘consistent character’ content for it. I also tried DALL-E to generate comic images, but have now been banned because I asked for an image relating to the 6th line in verse 1. 😂😂 Andrew D
