Hi Mario.

Thanks for dropping in! And thanks for taking time to have a listen and pass on your thoughts. It appreciate it. I was also a bit surprised to discover that I can make Synth V 'talk' as well. That's opened a new door a possibilities for me smile

Hi Ray.

I hope things are going well for you up there in the north smile The Tin-Pan-Alley period of music is one that I feel very comfortable with, especially the 1930s and 1940s styles. I've learnt a great deal about lyric writing from the lyricists of this period. One of my favourite books is "The Poets Of Tin Pan Alley" by Philip Furia. It's excellent reading and gives some really good insight into the lyric writing of this genre. It's not an accident that so many of the American classics are from the period of music.

Thanks for the visit!

I'm going to have some super-picky comments, but most of them have to do with SynthV and Saros, not you.

In the intro, Saros sounds like he's singing "fool moon". The phonemes are no doubt right, because I can duplicate the problem on my machine. frown

There's no alternative in the v2 for picking an alternate take of the phoneme, so fixing something like this is tricky. You can get something closer to "full" by editing the Tone Shift parameter in the Piano Roll, and shifting the tone up or down. That forces a phoneme sampled at a different timbre, so you can sometimes get a better pronunciation.

I don't know what SynthV defaults to /uh n d/ instead of /eh n d/ or /ae n d/ for "and" (like at 0:27 and 2:22), but I usually just type "end" instead.

There are a couple points where his articulation isn't as crisp as I'd like it to be - "what do you say" sounds a bit like "zey" at 0:42, "out there" as "der" at 0:46.

But other than some minor nits that no one other than me cares about, you're done a really outstanding job with this. smile

Hi David.

Wow! Thanks heaps for all this insight. You've given me a lot of food for thought and made think about things that I haven't considered before. I appreciate all the time you took to not only listen to my song, but also to type up all these comments. I'll play around with all the information you've given me. It will help me build my understanding of Synth V greatly. I'm very grateful.

Thanks again,
--Noel

That old time sound traipses nicely out of the speakers. That synth voice sounds good to me, just a couple places where I could tell it was a synth. Great song!

A great song lyrically and instrumentally, plus it's a lovely arrangement and mix, but even though the Synth V vocals are better than the old version they always sound not so much fake, but like Japanese vocalists who don't sound above average when they're singing in English.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Noel,

This is a wonderful song.
It really captures the Tin Pan Alley atmosphere of the 1930s/40s.
Synthesizer V Studio 2 has also been upgraded, and I think it sounds even more natural.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Ron.

It's good to see you. Thanks for visiting smile I appreciate your comments. I agree with you about vocaloids. They are becoming very impressive, these days. I'm really loving learning how to get the best out of Synth V. It's been an eye-opening journey and one that has made me really think about how human sounds are created and joined together to make English words.

All the best!

Hey floyd!

Thanks for taking the time to pass through the thread, listening and commenting. I'm thoroughly enjoying Synth V. It's amazing software and creates some outstanding vocals (once you work out how to drive it from a 'realism' perspective).

I appreciate your visit. Thanks for dropping by.

Saris II sounds good and you definitely captured the Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly feel.
And the spoken word is stunning.

Your analytical abilities and musical knowledge have got to be a big asset in mastering these synth vocals.

The piano has a very light touch - nice!
That horn solo is excellent and the arrangement is uplifting.

The lyric is outstanding ... no surprise there!

Janice sees the viewing of an old movie musical in the near future. 😉

Loved it!

Hi ES.

it's good to see you. Thanks for the visit. I appreciate your thoughts. Synth V is pretty amazing. To get it to sound fully realistic, though, is a learning-curve in progress for me smile One day, I might get there. In the meantime, though, I loving what Synth V brings to BIAB.
