I wrote this last year and forgot Id recorded it. Rediscovered it whilst going through my BIAB library today so thought Id put it up.

A simple song about saying goodbye etc after a breakup

Whiskey And Rye (c) PMcNaught 2024
All tracks BIAB
Vocals by yours truly
Thank you for listening

LYRICS

In the dim-lit room, the bottle's almost dry
Memories fading, as we say goodbye
The whiskey burns, the tears they fall
Heartache echoes through these empty walls

Whiskey and rye, the bitter taste of sorrow
Lost in the haze of a long tomorrow
In the shadows of a love gone by
We drown our sorrows in whiskey and rye

The clock ticks on, the night grows cold
Whispers of regret, stories untold
Each sip a prayer, each drop a sigh
We cling to each other, as the tears run dry

Whiskey and rye, the bitter taste of sorrow
Lost in the haze of a long tomorrow
In the shadows of a love gone by
We drown our sorrows in whiskey and rye

The stars above, they seem to weep
A lonesome tune, a promise to keep
But in this moment, we find our peace
In the arms of whiskey, our souls release

Whiskey and rye, the bitter taste of sorrow
Lost in the haze of a long tomorrow
In the shadows of a love gone by
We drown our sorrows in whiskey and rye

What!?! You forgot you recorded it? Pete, this song is so memorable. Excellent vocal and harmony. Man, been seeing some good whisky songs on here lately. Great band and mix, too. Much enjoyed.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Pete, this is an outstanding song
Great vocal and lyrics.
Super backing band and mix
Loved it

PS - Breakups and drinking is a natural combination for songs isn't it!

Gee, Pete, you must be from the DEEP SOUTH part of Lancashire. That's an authentic twang you've got going on, and you use it to great effect. Nice honky tonk tune, and well produced and mixed. Nice one!

Now that's a song. I'm glad you remembered your recorded it. I like the way you immediately go into the chorus after the last line of the verse. Excellent vocal, and one would never guess that you're a bloke from Lancashire.

Right then, Pete from Accrington, the land of black puddings and proper brews... aka Lancashire.

I've just had a good ol' listen to your latest tune. Blimey, I wasn't expecting that! You've got a voice that's smoother than a pint of Boddington's, and this song is catchier than the common cold going around Accrington in January.

And that Band In A Box? You've wrangled that thing into submission like a sheepdog on steroids. Seriously, top marks for making it sound like an actual band and not a malfunctioning toaster.

Seriously though, this is a top-notch tune. I'm definitely gonna have to go digging through your back catalogue, see if you've got any other bangers hiding away.
I'm giving this a solid four out of five frothy pints - and not just any pints! We're talking premium frothy pints, pulled with love from the best damn pub in all of Lancashire. You deserve it, lad. Cheers!

Izzy.
