You've helped tremendously. I'm trying square my knowledge of what swing means to me (not having a great experience) but that clears it up.
I use MuseScore to develop melodies based on BB backing and that works well with the straight styles, but doesn't work with the swing styles. The style I was working with is in 4/4 but I imagine I should use 6/8 in MuseScore to be able to match up with BB sw8.
That's why I lloked at the notation directly in BB and noticed the triplet per beat structure.
