I need to update my Win 10/11 cloning software. I have an older version of Macrium Reflex that needs updating but it costs $65 per year per computer. I have two computers that I keep backed up. I would like to not spend $130 per year.
I previously used Acronis True Image but had problems with its cloning saying the clone was Ok when it wasn't. Does anyone know if that has improved?
Does anyone have any experience for the following?

Been a user of AOMEI Backupper for around a decade now. I've tried them all and have stuck with AOMEI because it is reliable. I lost backups years ago using Acronis for some reason. Every time I upgraded Acronis, it would not read previous backups and in 1 instance it corrupted the image beyond recovery. That's when I said adios. I also like the fact that AOMEI will create a bootable ISO which I can load using Ventoy as a bootable USB. I am sure that just about all of them support USB booting in this day and age. Anyways, AOMEI is my choice.

A bit of an aside, though it may prove useful sometime.
I generally boot a Linux system, e.g. from a memory stick, and use the Unix "dd" command-line tool to clone discs. It makes a perfect sector-by-sector copy.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2026 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .

I too have the older version of Macrium, seems to work fine so far.
To be on the safe side I sometimes use an old Acronis boot cd that I made in 2018 to do a backup as well.
Just made an Image with AOME Backupper as well, first impressions I like the software so probably will use it in future as well, Thanks for letting us know about it.

I previously used Acronis True Image but had problems with its cloning saying the clone was Ok when it wasn't. Does anyone know if that has improved? I have been using True Image for years and have never had a single issue. Even with non-trivial restores (Windows on a RAID restored to a 'normal' hard disk) there have been no problems. And in cases where my hardware was not fully supported, I received new versions within a few days. Recommended!

After Macrium pulled rug, I've been using Aomei Standard. Last clone about a month ago, 4tb drive. No issues.

Thanks for the AOMI tips.
I get irritated with Macrium, and anyone else who advertises something as free, and when the users get settled in, starts a subscription service.
Sell it as trialware, not freeware. If it's going to be subscription, say it.
Me, I'd rather spend the money up front, buy the piece of utility software, then get free now, pay later.
But that's just me. (Sorry for the minor rant).
I've bookmarked AOMI, and when I get done making backing tracks for a few requested songs, I'll give it a spin.
Thanks again.

Thanx for the AOMEl suggestion. I tried it, liked it, and bought the lifetime license for 5 PCs. Now I can do my 2 computers, my wife's computer, and have 2 licenses for my kids.

Gigging this weekend, I'll investigate next week.
With the lifetime license, can you transfer it to a new computer when you replace one?

Should be able to contact AOMEI support and talk with them. Q: Can we migrate the license to another computer (License Agreement)? A: Generally, LICENSEE is not allowed to lease, sell, rent out or pass the Software to another person in any way. Such license is non-transferable and non-assignable, except in limited circumstances. The limited circumstances include where the original computer the Software license was deployed on: (i) becomes non-functioning; and (ii) falls into disuse. In such cases, the license is transferable to a replacement computer. If you need to transfer the license to a new computer based on the above circumstances, please contact the support team to reset the licenses. https://www.ubackup.com/help/register.html

Thanks. That seems fair.
Sometimes I miss the days when you buy it on physical media, and it just works. It was just much simpler that way.
