UNWINDING

Anyone here have the experience of being handed a complete mess of a ball of yarn with the sweet request "Can you untangle this, dear??"
------
As we sit here unwinding
The tangled thread of our life,
See all the partings and bindings--
Together, husband and wife.

The little unplanned surprises--
Twists and switch-backs and turns--
The action falls and then rises--
Comings, goings, returns.

Untie the knots,
Unravel our story's line;
Unwind the past to find
Our true path.

This big ball of confusion's
Just one elegant strand;
These knots are simply illusions,
Lying right in our hands.

One more knot to unravel,
One more snag's all we've got;
Then off on smooth, clear traveling..
Oops, one more blessed knot..

Whether it's tangled yarn or a fine-chain necklace or the cords on a Holland blind, they certainly remind us of the knottiness of life which, if I'm not mistaken can be trickier to unravel than tangible things.
Clever song, neatly rendered and backed by a suitably crafted band. Great job!

HAHA. It's usually old cords, but, yeah, I'm with ya, Tom. Man, what an unusual song idea, and you brought it out so well --and relatable. I get the metaphor. What a terrific band you brought in to untangle the problem and they straightened it all right out. Good vocal, too. Much enjoyed.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Untangling.... I don't like that job.

Nice song on the topic.

Vibes.... I don't hear those very often. Good choice

Hi Tom.

I love this groove, your instrument choices and the arrangement. I was transported back to the 1960s in a most pleasurable way. You've done a great job with this extended metaphor. I've never thought above relationships through this particular perspective, but it really is powerful. I really liked what you have created.

Nice bit of soothing bossa and clever lyric, Tom. I like the kind of cliffhanger effect on "our true path".

Outstanding song, Tom. A wry tone, incredible lyrics, a superb arrangement which must have taken a lot of care to bring to this incredible level, based on such a brilliant, original idea. Genius! Well done smile

“This big ball of confusion's

Our fav lines of the fine write. Really cool metaphor.

That’s a great band that nailed the bossa feel.
The vibes fit in very well also.

Nice mix too. Great soundstage on the monitors.
One look the open waveform and we knew we'd like it ... open and airy.

Your mellow but soulful vocal well carried the melody.

Well done … all around!

This is another great song in a long line of great songs. You perform this genre so well.
