"Wild Mountain Thyme" also known as "Purple Heather" and "Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go?" is a Scottish/Irish folk song.
In my version I sing and play the guitars, the banjos (Tenor and Plectrum) as well as the mandolins (Octave and Napolitan).
I produced this at my home with Band in a Box and Reaper.
Laulu on alkujaan kelttiläinen kansanlaulu.
Versiossani laulan ja soitan kitaroita, banjoja ja mandoliinejä.
Tuotin tämän kotonani Band in a Boxilla ja Reaperilla.

I come from a Scottish background, my dad was born there, so I'm very familiar with this song, heard it many times.

Nice take on this old classic, enjoyed.

I visited Scotland as my 60th birthday present 12 years ago. I do like Scotland and it's people - not to mention Single Malt Whisky. I'm also fond of all Celtic music.

I'm not familiar with the song, but I know your ability to make it your won, Arri. I especially like the mandolin. You are such a good player. The tin whistle is an excellent choice. I see Dave mentioned his Scottish heritage. He and his wive leave for Ireland tomorrow. Bet he brings back a song or two.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thank you so much. I don't regard my self as a singer, but I have to sing while producing these songs all alone at my home. Sometimes I manage to tempt some real singer to feature.

Arri, this is my favorite Celtic song of all time by far! I am a fan of renaissance festivals, and almost all of them end their day with all the performers coming together for a solemn version of Wild Mountain Thyme. It's a very emotional moment. Ya did a fine job with it here, lad. The bards of Ireland and Scotland are lookin' down on ya and smilin', fer sure.

Hi Arri,

I really enjoyed listening to this.
You've done a great job.
I don't know what it is about Scottish folk music, but it always sits very comfortably on my psyche.
It's two thumbs up from me smile

Thank you all. I'm a great fan of all folk lore: from Celtic to Rebetika music of Greece and from Hawaiian to Klezmer music not to forget my home country, Finland. But as raised up with the British Blues Revival in late 1960s, it took me into the roots of the blues and jazz. While jazz is too complicated for me to play, I'm now working with folk music adventuring with different kind of arrangement, demonstrating how the very same theme sounds as folk to jazz and even rock. Nice pass time for an old retired man producing these all by my self at my home. So next is coming also songs in my native language, Finnish, but I furnish them with translations into English.

I liked this very much. I'm not familiar with this grand old song, but I especially liked your choice of instrumentation to deliver it. Great work with BIAB!!

Your instrumental performances (nearly a one man band smile ) along with the BiaB session folks sound excellent.
Nice vocal too ... the slight hint of sea shanty phrasing was excellent.

Nice mix that sounded excellent on our monitors.

Well done!

Arri, although I have a touch of Scottish and Irish in me and I like their music I have never heard this song before today. So all I can say is that you did a fantastic job on this song.

I arrived early to a restaurant.
The manager asks, "do you mind waiting a bit?"
I said no.
"Good", he said. "Take these drinks to table 3"

Hello Arri,

What a wonderful performance.
This is the first time I've heard this Scottish folk song.
It's clear that it's part of the origins of American folk music.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.
