But some 'luxury foods' are not classed as foods and get 20%. Fruit juice is a food, but a smoothie is classed a 'luxury' item and is taxed at 20%. "Go figure" is the expression that comes to mind.

It's also liable on every transfer of goods, B2B or retail. Larger businesses claim it back on purchases and have to charge it again on sales.

I'd hoped that when the UK left the EU we'd be willing to dump VAT, but I rather doubt that will ever happen.

Here is another specific use cases for purchasing downloadable version.

Unlike spinner hard drives shipped prior years, which you can in theory open case and install as internal drives, newly shipped drives have proprietary form factor and can not be used internally. So if your plan is to install full Audiophile on internal drive and you have a fast internet, why not save on the price difference (Downloadable vs HD shipped) and buy yourself a hard drive that will fit your computer / needs, unless of course you already have one, which makes the option even more attractive?

I hope that all that can be done is being done to help our brothers and sisters across the pond.
It appears they deal with challenges and costs that folks in the States don't deal with.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Hello,

Great idea.

We have added an option for those who have the 2024 Audiophile, but want to upgrade to a downloadable version of the Audiophile Edition with all FLAC files for the RealTracks/RealDrums.

Reminder, this is abut 610GB of data.

Thank you!
Catherine

I was referring to the reduced total purchase price if the SSD wasn't required. The VAT costs would only be on the software, and not including hardware.

Yes, it was a download and I should have added Canada as also being also the same for VAT rates.

I've been self indulgent, didn't stick to my word, concentrated on the possibility to use the 30 day money-back guarantee and... I finally bought the downloadable version of full Audiophile 2025 (from Audiophile 2024). ($169 option in the table).

My download is limited on PG's end, not at home, but it is quite fast. 400...700Mbps most of the time. I already downloaded and installed 42% in less than 2 hours. I did not have any interrupted or failing download, I set 12 parallel downloads in a different drive and it seems to work quite well. I set a different drive because I install to a fast HDD, and de-compressing and downloading on the same drive was limiting speed. I did not have to check "download / install sequentially".

Now it says 48%, ETA fluctuating between 1h - 2h. If total time ended up being 3:30, effective average speed would be 386Mbps (48MBPS). So it is practical and effective, at least from Europe at this time of the day.

I can't even imagine....

The best affordable Internet I can get is 20mb DSL. That, assuming it would even finish, would be a week for me.

I'm willing to pay for the hard drive delivery by FedEx. It's quicker.

Median home internet United States is 274.16.
Herb, you are getting robbed.

The download above was done at 100mb max, averaging at about 70mb (!) That was the point of the test, to see if this fairly large download could be done without issues with below average speeds.

Misha, "DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a family of technologies used to transmit digital data over telephone lines. It is a type of broadband internet that allows users to be on the phone while using the internet". My brother has it. It is the less expensive way to connect to the Internet but it is also the slowest.

And it's the only option here. I'm in the woods and don't want to pay the high cost for satellite, starlink, or cellphone hotspot. It was DSL or spectrum cable.

Spectrum wanted $12,000 up front to run the cable from the road to my house. We're quite a distance from the road. Something slightly north of 1000 ft. The DSL company charged their normal $50 installation. We stream Internet, streaming TV, a couple of computers, and smart phones, plus 2 magic jack phones on WiFi without any problems. And very low monthly.

Mario, I used to have DSL as an upgrade from dial-up, I know exactly what it is.
Imagine downloading Audiophile through dial up... That would qualify for Guinness Book entry smile

Herb, I feel your pain. A good friend lives in upstate NY. Same deal, company wants 10k upfront to throw a line. They promised to eventually do it for "free". Had been 20+ years smile
T-mobile has $50 flat monthly 5G internet with free modem. I know speeds can be choppy in sticks. I live remotely too, but other friends who live nearby got that T-mobile modem - no complaints. From the top of my head, I think average speed is about 150mb. They watch movies and even have Voip phone line through that modem.

I might have to investigate the T-Mobile deal. As long as it's a permanent price, and not just an introductory promotion price ... That's what I'm paying now with a guarantee that it will remain the same..... Until the company gets sold.... I'm sure they have a loophole in the deal but it's not under contract so I can jump around as needed.

Mesha, I just went to the T-Mobile website. I entered my address and.... This service is not available for my address. They have a "lite" service with data caps.... Since the TV is on practically all day.... My wife likes to watch or just have it as background noise ... I'm sure we'd hit the data caps quickly.

Reckon I will be on DSL for a while longer.

Oh yeah.. and I thought that my DSL was slow at 94.9Mbps download. I live in the middle of the Silicon Valley—optical nearly everywhere else but not my neighborhood.

The worst of it is that I am bombarded by telemarketers trying to sell me optical that is unavailable.

As for downloading, Komplete Collector's Edition takes about 30 hours to download and install. It's about 1/3 the size of BIAB Audiophile—so three–four days or so is my best guess.

Herb, I recently cut cable tv and am doing streaming tv. I have two buildings and didn’t want to run Ethernet between them so I use a mesh router.

To get to the point, I had thought I was going to have to use a WiFi transmitter/receiver but the mesh router went the 100’

Your 1,000’ is well with the rated range of these WiFi transmitters and I found some for under a few hundred bucks. Is there a possibility of having Spectrum and your power company wire up a doghouse/barn/shed-whatever on the main road, then transmitting 400 MB internet to your house?
