After Our Gig (EB 2017)

After our gig, people hurry to their homes.
A warm bed is there waiting for them.
After our gig, we stay overnight to pack up our gear
A cold, dreary gig bus is waiting for the players.

After our gig, some people go on.
To a club or bar to party until the break of dawn.
After our gig, we also celebrate a bit:
Cold pizza, warm beer are waiting for the players.

After our gig, we finally get home to sleep.
Early in the next morning, we go back to work to earn our living.
But when the work is over, we are longing back to stage:
A new venue, a new night, is waiting for the players.
But when the work is over, we are longing back to stage:
A new venue, a new night, is waiting for the players.

PS. This was my first version of the song based on my experiences going to gigs. When the covid epidemia came, I have to stop gigging. After it was over, I found out, that I'm too old for gigs anymore. Now I just produce songs at my home all alone, much thanks to Band in a Box. Sometimes I manage to talk over some visiting artists, specially singers and solo guitarists, which are my handicaps. So I got Kari "Fat Boy" Tamminen to visit on this version. Later I sang my self the country version of this song.
HINT: I'm still looking for visiting artists to sing or play solos on my songs. If interested, don't hesitate to email me: bcblomberg@gmail.com. I'm spending most of the summer at out summer place, but visit city often. And autumn with it's dark days I'm passing time at my home studio.

I really liked this--the vocal layering is great! Lots of fun! Your guitars were perfect, and the BIAB pieces support it all so well! Great job!!

..And is that picture really from one of your gigs!?!?

Hi, Arri.

Sounds true to life - and one of many reasons I never became a gigging musician.!

(Not being very good, followed by not being able to memorize chord changes are the main reasons). wink

I enjoyed listening, even though I had to rely on the translation.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I stopped going to gigs, when I got too old to wake up so late and be a roadie and a humper. Now thanks to BiaB and Reaper I can pretend to be a producer and a mixer, which I like more.

Hi Arri!
A very lively song and full of energy. It really conveys the joy of playing for a crowd, despite the toil of packing up and lugging. Sounds like a great party song.

Well, you ain't too old for THIS gig, Arri. Man, I share so many similar experiences gigging and travelling. It would be a blast to sit around sharing the ones we can't (or shouldn't} write about. Love this!!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks, I was adviced to write about things I have my own experiences or know well. Maybe I should write a song about producing songs at my home studio all by myself with BiaB and Reaper.

A pretty cool story about what gigging is and isn't about.
My gigging career was just about a year doing sound for a couple bands, that's all.
Too much alcohol.
I'm more of a studio guy.

Arri, great job on those guitars! Honestly, didn't see a funk tune coming from you based on previous posts. You got me! Really like your mix, and FB does a great job on vocals. Only suggestion might be a bit more drum kit volume, since this song sorta screams "boogey" to me. Might just be me though. Enjoyed your song!

Thanks and also for your hint. I remix it once again keeping raising drums in mind. Yes, I have a broad music taste, but narrowed in my production what I can sing and play. This time Fat Boy visited and a I could do more funky stuff. I'm still looking for visiting singers and solists.

Arri, something totally different from your previous songs but just as good.
Great groove and lyrics that most musicians can relate, I know that I can
Super mix
IMHO this is your best to date.

It's a great mix and to my ears has a Finnish vibe to it; ie: in the way that Fins perform music from other cultures. It may not be your thing, but are you familiar with 'crazy' Sakari Kukko and Piirpauke? On a world compilation CD I heard them play a doina, jus titled "Doina" which is a style of Romanian folk music. On my mother's side I'm British (English, Scots & Irish but no Welsh) and on my father's side Romanian with a real genetic mix in there too, so being interested in doinas I bought the Piirpauke CD, "Algazara", with "Doina" on it. I've always been interested in world folklore and mythology, so I'm familiar with the Kalevala and via that when I was 18 (Im now 74) I bought an album of Sibelius' music. I'm actually staggered that no movies like "The Lord of the Rings" has ever used "En Saga" as a soundtrack as it's so epic and has an amazing recurring theme.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Sakari Kukko and his band Piirpauke was one of favourites in the late 1970s. They were even bettefr live!
I'm also fan of world music from Celtic to Balkan blues not to forget my roots.
Here is a song which was a hit as an instrumental version of Piirpauke:

It's also my hit: over 1,8k plays at SoundCloud.
I also produced another composition by Aarne Merikanto whic lyrics by Eino Leino are based on Kaleva: The Mother of Lemminkäinen:
