It's a great mix and to my ears has a Finnish vibe to it; ie: in the way that Fins perform music from other cultures. It may not be your thing, but are you familiar with 'crazy' Sakari Kukko and Piirpauke? On a world compilation CD I heard them play a doina, jus titled "Doina" which is a style of Romanian folk music. On my mother's side I'm British (English, Scots & Irish but no Welsh) and on my father's side Romanian with a real genetic mix in there too, so being interested in doinas I bought the Piirpauke CD, "Algazara", with "Doina" on it. I've always been interested in world folklore and mythology, so I'm familiar with the Kalevala and via that when I was 18 (Im now 74) I bought an album of Sibelius' music. I'm actually staggered that no movies like "The Lord of the Rings" has ever used "En Saga" as a soundtrack as it's so epic and has an amazing recurring theme.
