In the Styles menu there is no way to go through a number of styles, highlighting the style you might possibly use. For example, your searching for a style to use with your changes, you don't really, mind if i'ts blues or Bossa or whartever. You find say ten styles that might do, but how to backtrack and find style 2? style 3? Solution create a "candidate styles" which vanish on the closure of the styles panel. Show this with a coloured bar when selected. Make the filter filter for "candidate style" selection. This way a user can drill through styles, pick some candidate styles they like, see them all in one go, and then select one from only that group of styles.
This is different from favoriting styles as these are permanent. One would not want to make all styles auditioned in a sitting into fav styles. This is why candidate styles are temporary, but it would be good to be avble to convert a candidate style to a real favorite if one wished
+1 in support of the wish but I don't have strong support for the idea to be implemented.
One reason I don't strongly support the idea is I think Band-in-a-Box or BiaB for short, already has too many lists. I wonder how many users use any of the existing lists as part of their workflow.
Another reason is I strongly believe a user can greatly reduce the number of styles displayed in StylePicker results by learning to use search terms. Less styles equals less auditions.
Finally, genre, sub genre and style names many times do not accurately represent how a style feels.
So Jim, Suppose you have found yourself seeking styles and have found three gospel styles, four blues styles, a country style or two and some jazz styles. Your not sure which one is best, so you want to audition them, How would you do this in and select the best? Do you have an easy method? Seems to me this is a core function and very awkward.

ZeroZero, I'm on a smartphone and not at my computer so I can't provide screenshots and have to broadly answer your question.
Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) allows style auditions using demo songs or using the song project chordsheet. I normally select to use the first twelve bars of the song. I also make sure the twelve bars include both A and B part markers. These choices allow me to audition both style sections using my chords and key signature but don't take long to generate.

BIAB has a Favorites only folder located in the Styles Sub-menu on the Chord Sheet or by entering S5 <enter> from any measure of the Chord Page regardless if there is a chord entered in that measure. This list can contain up to 150 of the styles marked favorites.
BIAB also has a Recently Played folder that can contain up to 150 of the last styles selected also located in the Styles Sub-menu on the Chord Sheet or by entering S4 <enter> from any measure of the Chord Page regardless if there is a chord entered in that measure.
Using these two folder in conjunction allows the user to search, audition, sort and save all of the styles auditioned and set as a favorite for any given project. These folder lists can be saved as project specific sets or genre sets or any other user desired set list.
Save the current Recent Styles list and Favorites list and then clear both lists and create a Recently Played set and Favorites Set for each individual BIAB song project and these sets can be retrieved any time in the future if the user needs to return to the song project, both the original auditioned styles and favorites will be available to use.
