Under the Audio Menu, have you had a look at (a) Audio Drivers/Settings and (b) Export Song as Audio File? These options may do what you want and it's a simple one click.
... Because changing audio output device is something I DO ALL THE TIME!!!!!
If you would not mind explaining, I'm curious why you would do this. For me, it's set it and forget it. MIDI softsynths I could see, but not audio. What am I missing here?

Because of my particular workflow!
For example I have two different studio monitors - connected via two different DACs at two different locations in the house area where the music stuff is located.
I also have a pair of very low latency Yamaha YH-WL500 wireless headphones that connect directly to the headphone output on my main desktop machine - a Mac mini. I regularly need to change which output I am monitoring. Most commonly between one pair of studio monitors and ( to not disturb others in the house ) my Yamaha YH-WL500 wireless headphones
See the attached screenshot..
Oh and at times I'm just using my AirPod Pros. And yes I know that - MOSTLY - one can set the output device for the "Default" output device and switch outputs from the finder menu loudspeaker menu- but take it from me - that option doesnt always apply or can be used..
As a postscript - Cubase's audio setup dialogs are equally and unnecessarily complex... too... but thats no excuse..

1..re audio output routing. much as i like my sound interface it only has one stereo out so what i did was utilise a mini mixer with mutes that lets me route to various other playback devices. in my case ive considered a sound interface with multiple outputs so i have routing flexibility but its costly...hence the mini mixer.
ps..2..btw re ripple editing. this is something i understand radio stations have done a lot also. reaper is another daw that can do this. but i'm not sure at the coding level that ripple editing can be done in bb. as has been said over the years here one cant necessarily compare bb to a traditional daw as bb is an accompaniement program and track generator. ie a very unique app. i'm excited that bb now has a tracks view BUT i would like typical midi and audio editing features in bb tracks view ie... hilite a piece of midi or audio and right click over it for various editing options includeing fancy things like 'slide' ahead or behind beat x amount for example. ...ie...typical daw features and also being able to grab a section of a track to do certain things with. however i suspect offering more daw like features in the editing realm might not work with the auto accompaniement side of bb. so till bb gets the editing daw features i use a daw for deep editing... eg pg's own rb (pc only) and another daw if i want to do advanced things to eg my vocals like vocal comping.
in summary there are lots of daw features i would like in bb like lots of other people i'm sure..cos it would save me flitting tween various music apps like a bee...lol. ie time wasting dealing with various apps.... i'm not sure however from my coding background if adding more daw like features to bb might compromise it in some way.
happiness.

my songs....mixed for good earbuds...(fyi..my vocs on all songs..) https://soundcloud.com/alfsongs (90 songs created useing bb/rb) (lots of tips of mine in pg tips forum.)
Thanks for explaining. I handle multiple rooms and speakers by a variety of things including Bluetooth and a speaker switch. The one thing I do not have to switch is my audio output.

We are currently looking at GUI improvements, and the Preferences were identified as a key area of focus. We will consider all ideas from this thread, however most of us are looking at Reaper's preferences as a model.

It's excellent and a popular style. Ardour, Mixbus and Audacity all use very similar. Having the tree layout on the left gives flexibility and good ergonomics, whilst being able to handle very many options.
