Rum On The Beach

While sitting in your lounge chair on a Caribbean beach, listening to a local band while drinking a rum and coke you say this is paradise.

BiaB style - Festejo- All MIDI Latin Pop
Tempo - 85 BPM

Bass - Amplebass - Upright
Piano - Lounge Lizard - tine - Studio Tine
Guitar - Kontakt - Picked Nylon - Melody
Drums - SSD-5 - Deluxe Raggae
Percussion - Kontakt - various presets

I am playing the nylon string guitar and via my keyboard the Marimba - Kontakt - PSI Marimba.

As always all comments are welcomed.

Whenever I get something stuck in the back of my throat, I dislodge it by drinking a beer.
It's called the Heineken Maneuver.

I hear Mr. MIDI-isn't-dead is at it again! wink

Nice mood setter!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Mario,

Love the carefree and breezy feel of this one. The guitar and marimba sound great. Awesome mix!

Cool, relaxing groove and good to hear marimba as a melody instrument.

"I am playing the nylon string guitar and via my keyboard the Marimba"
And a great job you did.

Your description is easily visualized by the band choice. Really cool.

And we always love your open, airy mixes.
Feel like we are sitting dead center in the front row. smile

Nice!

Huh. Never heard the marimba played on a keyboard. Gosh, that sounds GREAT! Really nice playing on the nylon string guitar, too. Is there anything you CAN'T do?? Super composition/arrangement and nicely mixed. Amazin' stuff.

Very pleasant and enjoyable listen. I especially appreciated the interesting chord changes and you're nylon-string guitar track.

Heck, I thought Rum was Jamaican for beach. I like how you drop out each note of the melody as if from a leaky bottle of rum as you walk on the beach searching for a good spot. I've sat on that lounge chair you mention. A lot of good memories and many of them now are forgotten memories. Hey, there's a title: Forgotten Memories.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanx Chay. I do like the sound of a marimba, almost as much as I like the sound of Vibes.

Nice one Mario! Quite a few things I love about this one:
- the run down and walk up on the nylon string guitar
- marimba … from a keyboard? Who would’ve thunk it
- the left and right effect in my ear buds - it mimicked a Leslie speaker
- the chord progression as Tom said. I thought I heard a minor to major change in there, and also a couple of diminished chords? Nice!

If my wife asks if I exercised today, I can tell her I had a rum on the beach.

Good one!
Andrew

Cool stuff... Nothing like a good Caribbean groove.

I've got a friend who's a rum aficionado. My expertise is not with rum.

I misread the title at first – I thought it said "Run On The Beach" – a good, healthy exercise.
Then, when I found the reference to imbibing rum, it suddenly clicked – it's a drinking song – and it's not the kind of exercise one can do while running because you spill too much.
There's a lot to like here, Mario. From the well-chosen sounds to the cleverly deceptive chord progression that tricked me a regular intervals, moving in totally different directions than those I had anticipated. A very interesting experience. Well done.

Thanx so much Andrew for this very kind review. Maj7 chords - yes, m11 chords - yes, diminished chords - yes. You have a very good ear!

Thanx so much Brian. Running with rum is not advisable as spilling it is alcohol abuse. I'm glad that you liked it.
