Delicate

What I've got to say is delicate.
It's the haunt that keeps me up late at night.
It's a dread within this dream. Are you over it?
A nightmare that lives on in my mind.
Oh, I need for you to kiss me awake, and chase these fears I have far away.
Oh, please understand real love is delicate.
Help me find the strength in its soul.
Love sings strong within your eyes, so delicate, inviting me to lose control.

I cannot believe how strong I feel when I sense that you love me so true.
It's such a fantasy but it's oh so real. I'll dedicate my life loving you.
But I fear one day I'm bound to wake up, and learn this dream wasn't love.
Oh, please understand real love is delicate,
It sometimes grows weak then it dies.
All the feelings you bring out are delicate.
Please help me see strength in your eyes.

Yes, it's true all life is delicate. There will be no guarantee we'll survive.
All that fear I had? I hardly notice it. As long as we love I'm alive.
Now when anytime I fall back to fear,
I can count on the strength of you near.
Oh, I understand real love is delicate,
and I'll give it all I've got to keep it strong.
We will build it all with love and never quite,
and delicately strengthen our bond. So delicate.

Marty,

What an awesome song! This has a really pretty melody and an excellent James Ingram feel to it. I love the way all the guitars interact. A really nice mix!

Your vocal is superb as usual. I especially like how you emphasize "delicate" in the passages.

Great music!

Hi Marty - beautiful song, you kept such a fine delicate balance of all the instruments in your mix!
Wish I knew how to do a master like that - super vocals and lyrics, all as only you can do it!!!
Enjoyed hearing you do a softer song too,
FAB job,

Carl

Hi Marty,

What a wonderful write. Love the backing tracks around your excellent vocal. I love how you wrap your voice around that maj7 chord at the beginning of the verses. Kind of delicate!

This is one my new favorites by you. loved the lead guitar riff. My kind of music.

As always, you have given us a reallly nice listen. One word comes to me about this song, more so than other - comfortable. I just sat back, listened and smiled.

Loved that vocal ending!

Best to you, my friend.

Alan

MARTY....MAAAAAAAAAAAARTY....wow.
LOVELY on all levels.
I assume you've played the bass as it frequently echoes the ends of vocal phrases and is SMOOOOOOOTH.
There's just one though that came to me.....the initial syllable/word "What" is abrupt. I'd be inclined to lengthen it a little and give it a little fade in - not from far down - just enough to give it time.
A minor & negligible suggestion but it did come to me at that point of the song.
FAB.

Cheers

Marty, very cool and SMOOTH reflection on love. Excellent backing track and even more excellent vocals. Nicely arranged and mixed. A song like this can be "delicate" to execute, but you've nailed it.

And in the key of Gb, too!

Well, shoot, Marty, even as jaded as I am, this touched the buried romantic in me. Your voice really brings out all the feeling in the song (and you have such a unique vocal quality, which I've failed to comment on previously). Nice musical choices all around.

Hi, Marty.

Nice! I'm a sucker for jazzy songs with Maj7th chords.

But what's the "Key of Gb" stuff? As a guitarist, there's only the key of F#. wink

There was another song called Delicate by Terence Trent D'arby that I really liked. This is right up there with that song. Vox were terrific, very soulful. Liked the R&B groove and feel. You churn em out, but they're all high quality!

Marty, smooth jazz that was so smooth it just rolled off of my monitors.
Outstanding vocal that was supported by the best backing band money could buy!
IMHO this is your best to date!
Loved it

Thanks, Alan. Man, you are such a fine listener. The maj7 and ending were there to show the delicate nature, and I'm glad it put you back in your easy chair.

When a man makes a song this delicate, it is something extraordinary. The biggest highlight among all 13 highlights on your new album. A song that keeps playing in my head all the time. The lyrics are full of love and delicacy, introspective attitude and sensitivity - "Love sings strong within your eyes, so delicate, inviting me to lose control" sounds like straight from the soul of Marty the romantic.

Even the best R&B artists ever lived on Earth couldn't have written a better chord progression.

That band is superb, so smooth and delicate. The solo guitarist is perfect and the piano and those jazz guitars have melted my soul. Excellency is written all over the mix.

And what vocals, delicate - yes, emotional - yes! "oh oh" and that final "so delicate" are pure honey to my ears! Your best vocal performance - yes!

Janne

Thanks, David. I'm with ya on the jazzy Maj7s. Well, I tried it in G, but I was too often flat, so I went flat.

Thanks, David. High quality chum? I like it. I'll have to find that other Delicate. Better to use a title that's been used than lyrics or melodies. I thought your comment was going that way, and my stomach fell. Always suspicious of from where the creativity comes.

The softer side of Marty.

The tender and emotive vocal is so well supported bv the session guys.

And their smooth jazzy feel with the hint of funk and your bass is vibe perfection.

Very contemplative all around.
The vid added plenty of visual support also.

And, as per usual, you wrapped it all in a fine mix.

Well done!
