I wrote this song inspired by an old waltz from Bretagne Avant En Blonde. Both the melody line and lyrics are made in the style of an old folk song. I play the guitars, plectrum banjo and mandolin. ***** Song Summary ************* Key=Am , Tempo 140, Length (m:s)=3:14 Style is J~GITWLZ.STY (Jazz Guitar Waltz w/ Brushes) Style MIDI Instruments are : Acoustic String Bass (33), Electric Piano (5), Nylon String Guitar (25), MIDI Drums :41 Brushes Kit (41) RealDrums will be substituted :JazzBrushesWaltz: a: Brushes b: Snare, Ride The Magic of Dance (Esa Blomberg 2020) I once took a flaxen-haired, but very icy, maiden to a dance. I did my magic to warm her up. I spun her for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, she finally fixed her gaze on me. I spun her for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, her smile finally rang for me. That redhead, I only see in my memories, when I once took her to a dance. That redhead, I only see in my memories, when I did my magic to conquer her. I spun her for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, I saw a promising burn on her cheeks I spun her for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, I was still left alone in the night. I lost such a pretty brunette, when I once took her to a dance I lost such a pretty brunette, No matter how much I did my best magic. I spun her around for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, I probably step her on her toes, I spun her around for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, a more agile one got that brunette. I once took such a black-haired, but jealous, girl to a dance. I worked my best magic with such a black-haired, but jealous girl. I spun her around for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, she never let me go. I spun her around for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, but she make me to marry her.

Sounds good Arri,
I like the vocal and backing band.
However to nitpick I thought the harshness of the lead guitar did not blend well with the backing band. IMHO a more mellow guitar lead sound would fit better. BUT that is only my opinion and others may not agree.
Regardless I still like the song.

Hi Arri! Tomppa is a good vocalist find! The waltz style is great, as is the band, and love how you complement the style with your own playing. For the lyrics/storyline, the fellow was what we would call a 'player' (playing the field), but in this case, the player got played! Importantly, I note the number of verses is limited to the number of natural hair colours. Regarding the guitar tone, if I am looking for something more mellow, and assuming I am playing clean, I pull the tone down, use the neck pick-up, and play up the fretboard from 10th fret of higher - this gives a nice mellow tone - not trying to suggest I am in anyway an expert! Andrew

Thanks. You have a strong point with that harsh guitar sound. I'll fix that. But I'm very glad, that the you got the story and liked the style. As you have heard, I like to try out different styles from rhythm and blues to folk music. And there BiaB is a great tool.

I just recorded new solo guitar tracks with more smooth sound with my favourite guitar: Ibanez 2470NT 1977 Japan (Gibson L-5 replica). Is it better now? Andrew: maybe nowadays there should be also girls with blue, yellow or even green hair?

Well played. Arri. Now that's a good thing to come out of Covid. Cool instrumentation. Fun song. Well sung, and my favorite parts are the intruments you played.

Hi, Arri. Fun lyrics! I spun her around for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, I probably step her on her toes, I spun her around for a quarter of an hour, I rocked her for an hour, a more agile one got that brunette.Nice playing as well. The reverb makes the vocal sound a bit "boxy", like it's in a small room, but that's just my opinion. I enjoyed listening to the song!

I think you've really captured the mood of that era well. I like the story. Like David, I think the vocals sound too hollow/boxy. Less reverb (and/or if possible, a brighter reverb) and a little EQ should easily fix the problem.

Great to hear more music from another culture. I think the message in the song is: stop taking women to dances and try another venue, somewhere they can just sit and not be spun around.

I just remixed it. I had in vocals reverberation, whic I took out. I also have delay for large room, which I kept. I cahnged EQ from "wide male vocals" to my special clear vocals. Is it better now? PS. It's great to get here feedback and suggestions from colleages.

Great work, excellent composition. Very expert production also, with your remote vocalist--nice ending, too. My only complaint---no grey-haired women?? Age discrimination!! Enjoyed it all!!!
