I'm trying to load #1701 & #1702 piano RT's but they won't load into the mixer. #1700 keeps coming up. Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks.

They load fine for me, but only if I have the tempo for the song set to roughly match the tempo for the RT.
If tempo is set out of scope RT#1700 is loaded for me as well.

They should load regardless of the tempo. It's just that they can sometimes sound wonky if they are too far from the recommended ideal tempo.

Thanks Herb. This is the first time I've seen this issue.

Glad that someone was able to point out that checkbox for you! There's all kinds of fun settings in the RealTracks Settings dialogue. If you are never sure what a checkbox does, if you put your cursor over the text long enough there's a little hint that pops up and tells you what those checkboxes do. Doing that is a good way to learn all the little nooks and crannies of the program. Sometimes, those messages have some other useful info (like what the tildes mean in this case).

That box is checked. The RT's will load if I have the tempo set to match but when I change the tempo back, #1700 replaces the desired RT.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

that sounds right. If you don't want the auto adjust you need to uncheck the box. 1700 is 85bpm, 1701 is the same chops recorded at 110 bpm and 1702 is the same but recorded at 140. If you check the box, BIAB will chose the closest one. If you uncheck the box then you can choose. Pay attention to the ~. It tells you what is happening.

I tried years ago to get them to provide a simple legend that explained what the various hieroglyphics meant (tilde, asterisk, caret, underscore, dash etc), but despite my repeated suggestions, it was ignored. I guess that they will just rely on the user base to keep explaining it. A legend would have been so simple and easy to provide.

It is called a "User Frendly GUI"

Just think how much effort, time and delay this little thing caused, not to mention all users that have had the same issue but never reported it. Add this with all the other issues that easily could have been fixed.

Maybe someone whom knows all or most of the hieroglyphics could list them in the tips forum. Maybe it could be a living list where others can add their input. Then those of us who don't know them, like me, could print them out.
Just a thought.

Here is a start. A breakdown of the most commonly used BIAB codes, organized by category:

🎵 Chord Input Codes
Standard Chords: C, Cm, C7, Cm7, Cmaj7, Cdim, Caug, C9, C13, etc.
Bass Note Slash Chords: C/E, Dm/F (Chord over different bass)
Alternate Root: F#, Gb, A#m, etc.
Rest: . (Period before chord, e.g., .C means rest on beat)
Push: ^ or >, means the chord is pushed early by 8th note (e.g., ^C)
Held Chord: C... (held chord over multiple beats)
Shots: C^ or C> depending on the version (also see F5 bar settings for shots and holds)
Slash Bass with Rest: .C/E (rest then slash chord)
Alternate Bars: You can have 2 chords per bar: C,Dm

⏱️ Bar and Part Markers
Part Marker: A or B (starts a new section)
Substyle Changes: A to B (changes style groove)

Unfortunately, just unfortunately, some parts of the program are still locked into the DOS 8.3 days. Remember them? Those hieroglyphics are part of that. A legend describing them (even though already antiquated by today's standards) would still be better than what we've currently got.

Tough talk? Maybe. Necessary talk to help improve the program for both the company and its users? Yes, I think so. I'm actually on the company's side. But some things really need to 'get with the times'. And this is one, for sure.

I've never been wholly confident about style file naming, but I do know that style files prefixed with:
an underscore '_' are RealStyles
an equals symbol '=' are a mix of RealTracks and MIDI.

I believe MultiStyles have a + at the end (before the suffix), i.e. +.STY
e.g. style-name: _AGENT+
and file-name: _AGENT+.STY

I believe Norton Music uses different prefixes to avoid potential conflicts with PGM naming.
