I tried years ago to get them to provide a simple legend that explained what the various hieroglyphics meant (tilde, asterisk, caret, underscore, dash etc), but despite my repeated suggestions, it was ignored. Maybe someone whom knows all or most of the hieroglyphics could list them in the tips forum. Maybe it could be a living list where others can add their input. Then those of us who don't know them, like me, could print them out.
