Nice ending!
I think your voice sounded excellent for this song but as usual I would have liked them louder, but that is just me.
Thanks Mario,
Vocal level noted.

You know, I'm not good at giving you advice or suggestions. I listened a couple times and nothing came to mind but a smile. SO don't change a thing.
Thanks Marty,
You quote the only INXS song I can listen to without running away.

Nice rhythm guitar! (both sides). The left one (main one) is overly bright on my speakers - constantly pulling my ear from the vocal.
I quite like the vocal.
Tons of good stuff.

Thanks fj,
My left ear hearing is a little duller & quieter than the right. You've made the same observation two songs in a row so it must be getting worse.
I address that in the next iteration.

Hi Ray,

Trying to get back in the music groove. That's my WIP.

Cool song with lots of good stuff in it - particularly the bass and snare. It is very softly recorded, so I cranked up my speakers, and the song blossomed! the snare really popped and the bass filled the bottom without covering everything else. Your vocal sounded just fine. I think you have a winner here!

Once I turned up the volume, I let the song wash all over me, and it was so darn good! I don't see much that needs changing other than the overall volume.

Good work!

Alan

Everything is in the pocket!

We like how the verses progress and always find ourselves honing in on the middle of the verses.
Why? to see the cool changes, e.g. “new tears, old fears” to “new thought, old ways” to “new tears, pain sears.”

Your bass is excellent in tone and note choices.
It sounds excellent on the monitors.
The entire mix sets up a nice soundstage.

If Terry doesn’t get to it we feel your vocal suits it very well.

Love that ending too!

Great listen Ray,

J&B

I love the pulsing bass and that you opened with the lone bass. This has your mark on it with its unique melodies and succinct word choice. That keyboard solo was nifty. Was the the midi?

Thanks Scott,
The keyboard was straight up RealTrack organ...I was going to tweak with midi but it seems to have worked on it's own.

Very cool song. Song has a mid 80's MTV feel to me. Look forward to hearing the finished version of it.

Hi Ray.

From start to finish, I was mesmerised. The lyrics captured my imagination and the band showcased the words excellently. I haven't played around with the organ realtrack that you used, but it was a perfect fit for this song, and I loved the way it lifted chorus and provided a haunting, fantasy-like quality to the backing. Those last four lines in your chorus were a high point for me. You've said a great deal with so few words.

"Though I've lost the plot
Of who who and what what
No, not what I am
But what I am not."

I found this very entertaining.
